These run true to size. They are a great boot. Hard to find quality leather boots at this price. Fingers crossed that they have your size!

I ended up getting 3 different pair of these boots one after another trying to get a pair without significant leather flaws. After the first pair I asked them to inspect the next pair and described the problems with the first pair. STP called back and said the next pair was inspected and was fine. Not the case when I received them...multiple scuffs and cuts in the leather so back they went. After another call I was told the 3rd pair had been inspected and was perfect...not so when I received them...save type and number of flaws...so back these went also. The STP folks were friendly through this whole process but they should have been able to perform a proper inspection and not keep sending me boots that should be labelled as 2nds due to the significant flaws in the leather.

These are great boots and I got them for a great price but STP should have listed these as seconds. I ordered a pair, returned them in exchange for another pair and returned the 2nd pair also. In both instances I returned them due to many cosmetic flaws in the outer leather. Heavy scuffs, tears, cuts etc. I have purchased 1st quality leather ski boots in the past and I can't believe that Scarpa would have considered these their 1st quality. I am bummed because now I don't have the boots I wanted.

I bought these boots to replace both my worn out Asolo Summit leather double telemark/backcountry boots, and the Garmont Excursions I've been using for a few seasons. The Asolos were comfortable and warm, but lacked much ankle support. The Excursions are supportive and fairly light, but like all plastic tele and backcountry ski boots, just don't feel "right" when touring and skinning uphill. These Alicos seem to be the solution, at least for me. The sizing is right with a single pair of socks. They're plenty warm enough in Colorado winters, supportive for turns, and have the right feel for both long day tours and hut trips. I've been able to crank some nice tele turns on moderate terrain, with and without big packs, in all kinds of conditions, with these boots. They turn at least as well as the Garmonts, and are much more comfortable on trails and approaches. Both Rottefella, and G3 cable bindings, and Voile 3 pin cable bindings work well with the Alicos, in my experience. They're not a boot for lift service use or extreme skiing, but for general backcountry touring with moderate width telemark skis, skinning, and pack carrying on overnight and multiday hut tours, these are great.

I was very excited to receive these boots to replace my old Asolo Snow Fields back country ski boots. I normally wear a mens size 8, but I wanted a little more room. I ordered a size 9 which was very, very small. The size 9 was not even close to being a size small, it was more like 1 1/2 to 2 sizes smaller than it should have been. I think the size of this boot did not compensate for the inner boot. I wish they ran true to size I think they might have been a nice boot, but I had to return them. I would recommend these boots if you could figure out the correct sizing.

A well made but heavy double boot; the inner boot is very well padded in tongue, sole and inner/outer heels. The outer boot is extremely stiff (as new) and therefore takes a real effort to cinch down using the lacing system with two fixed cleats at the top. The instep tie down strap is effective at snugging the outer boot to the inner however on my relatively narrow foot, there is little velcro overlap (less than 1") to effectively stick together because the strap has been made too long. (another commentor mentioned the same thing, that too much tail sticks out and catches snow on the outside of the boots). The problem is fixable by removing and shortening the existing strap, however some cutting and sewing will be required; not a big deal if you sew. I'm looking to replace an old pair of Merrill leather boots and Scarpa T3's with these. The combination of a leather boot & double boot with the capabilities of warm feet while snow camping/skiing attracts me to these boots. I have not skied on these yet but expect that performance for back country skiing will be somewhere between the two. These boot also appear to accept Grivel G14 Crampons despite the extended "nose", so I look forward to seeing how they work in that secondary service as backup to mountaineering boots.

There are a couple of reviews on here that effectively amount to "They look good out of the box". This wasn't any use when I was deciding whether to buy them, so I decided to write something more expansive. I guessed at my size, but it wasn't a difficult guess because I already owned two other pairs of Alico hiking boots that are sold on STP. I got the men's US11, which was stamped "44" on the inner boot, and "45" on the outer boot. I take a mondopoint 29. I tested them over two overnight weekend trips with a full overnight pack, covering roughly 20km of terrain rolling up and down over 500 vertical metres. One was sunny conditions, and one was a whiteout in a blizzard. I would have liked to do greater distances, but weather and company didn't allow. My initial impression out of the box is that they're pretty big and heavy for a boot, because the sole does weigh a lot, and there's no skimping on any of the materials or construction anywhere. When actually wearing them, I didn't notice this, so they're not heavy enough to be obstructive. The laces on the pair I received were black, not red like the picture (I'm not fussed). I have a low volume foot, so I cut out a pair of insoles from 3mm cork/rubber gasket material to take up the extra space (I do this to all my boots, except Crispis, which are meant for low volume feet anyway). I like the combination of ankle freedom and stiffness. I previously had a pair of Garmont leather boots that only just covered the ankle. They were a single boot, rather than a outer + inner combination, and I found that the sole allowed sufficient torsion to allow the heel to twist off the top of the ski. These don't have this problem; the leather is stiff, and there are integral stiffners up the ankle (like you find on the toe caps of most leather shoes, only stiffer). This general stiffness stops me pulling the laces as tight as I would like. Obviously, this is something that I'll have to persuade the boot to do over time, not a couple of weekends. The inner boot is excellent; fully leather outer, 2mm-ish rubber sheet sole, and the tongue is the most padded tongue I've ever seen. It's pretty fat. I'm impressed at how well it pulls around the foot; it feels like it fits better than my heat-moldable liners in my plastic boots. They'll be good hut boots, if I'm ever lucky enough to score a place in a hut. The outer boot is held to the sole with a double-stitched, resin-sealed norwegian welt, and the leather itself seems to be impregnated with some sort of silicone stuff, because it's impervious to both water and wax. I stuck the wax on anyway just to be sure, and to seal the nylon taffeta lining the tongue (the tongue lining is a single piece of taffeta along the back, with the leather tongue stitched onto it on the front layer so as to minimise stitching holes). The boot stayed dry despite being dunked in streams a couple of times. Not surprisingly, it also breathes a lot better than Excursion/T-4 class boots while giving the same performance. Altogether, it's a great boot that I would choose in preference to a low-cuff plastic boot, but it does have some disadvantages: The heel is a standard hiking boot heel with the tele groove around the back. However, tele boots have slightly thin heels to allow them to fit into cartridge bindings like Rotte Cobras, G3 Targas, and Voile Hardwires. These boots don't fit cartridge bindings too well. I don't use cartridge bindings in the backcountry on multi-day trips, so this doesn't affect me. I don't think there are enough eyelets/hooks on he outer boot. I'm constantly wanting to tighten it, but don't have the leverage around the cuff due to the speed-lace hooks being too sparsely spaced. I think the boots would be better with the same lacing configuration as Alico's Guides. The velcro strap is useless (it doesn't pull anything tighter or hold your heel in), collects snow and ice like crazy on the velcro side, and gets in the way because it is too long. I'm going to pull mine off and put an aftermarket one on. They're pretty expensive. I know they're really two pairs of boots (inner and outer), they're a lower volume item of stock, and the outer leather is very thick and has been treated, but it's hard not to compare the price and picture to that of the Alico Guides and hesitate. Despite that, if you can get them on one of STP's 30% discounts I think, for the fun and comfort you have wearing them, they represent good value and I am glad to have a pair.
