  • Question “What is the UPF rating on this fishing shirt?”
Asked on 7/24/2014 6:56:14 PM by old oregon 65 from oregon
    • Answer Any non-see-through fabric has the same UPF rating of OK
Answered on 7/24/2014 7:28:05 PM by Whoever from NYC
    • Answer I have no expertise to comment on the sun protection factor of the shirt, but I have worn it flyfishing in the tropics and in the Southern sun of Tennessee. It served well. light enough to be cool, yet sturdy enough to provide sunscreen for a 70-year old flyfisher..
Answered on 7/24/2014 7:41:56 PM by GaryV from Knoxville, TN
    • Answer I really don't know. And, I don't remember if it said in the specs for the shirt. But, it is a fairly tight weave and a very comfortable, breatheable, hot weather shirt. I love it and have 3 of them. And, for the price, it is well worth it.

    • Answer It doesn't have one but I wore it for a full week in the Black Hills camping and hiking and received no sunburn on my pale ginger alabaster freckley skin. Great shirt for the price!
Answered on 7/24/2014 8:43:00 PM by Brock from Illinois
    • Answer The UPF Rating is 50.
Answered on 7/24/2014 11:30:40 PM by Jimmy2Trails from Monterey CA
    • Answer There is no UPF rating on the label or the tags. This shirt is a very good substitute for the much more expensive fishing shirts I own. I wear these shirts on the weekends because of the comfort and ample room they provide. These shirts are a bargain.

    • Answer Theres nothing on the label about a UPF rating. But I guess you could check with United Labratories (UL.com). I can say I worn it on a handful of occations fishing, in hours of sunshine, and raining conditons. It dries out fast and I've yet to get a sunburn in it.

  • Question “Sun protection factor?
Asked on 6/11/2014 4:52:21 AM by wif from calif.
    • Answer That data isn't listed. The shirt is pretty thin and lightweight but I have spent over 100 hours in sunlight with it and have not had any issues. Clothing is rating using UPF rather than SPF (which is used for sunscreen and other cosmetics). Searching internet with UPF maybe more useful.

    • Answer I've been in the Tetons & Yellowstone for the past 10 days in bright sun. It seems to protect just fine.
Answered on 6/11/2014 5:21:00 AM by Gary from Knoxville, TN
    • Answer Unless stated, I to not think it has any more than other shirt. That was not a major concern as I use mine for hiking, and normally thats in wooded areas.
Answered on 6/11/2014 6:17:42 AM by Clark from Michigan
    • Answer I still put on a sun block
Answered on 6/11/2014 7:31:47 AM by eric the traveller from new york
    • Answer I'm not sure about the UV protection. It may be under the specs of the product. However, I do know it is a great shirt with a fairly tight weave which would offer sun protection.

    • Answer I have several of these shirts. Th sun protection factor is not listed. What they are is a very good substitute for the more expensive Columbia fishing shirts. I have both and I use these for "knock around" weekend, boat repair and yard work. At Sierra trading they have been such a bargain I don't worry about ruining them.
Answered on 6/11/2014 7:57:06 AM by Bob in Marblehead from Ohio
    • Answer I can't really answer this adequately since my husband wears 2-3 of these shirts he owns with the sleeves rolled up all summer long and never worries or thinks about sun exposure. He doesn't have a clue as to whether or not this shirt has any sun protection. He just likes the fact they're light weight and easy to wash and dry.
Answered on 6/11/2014 8:50:01 AM by stvnflt from Sequim, WA
    • Answer I'm not sure it has any special sun protection factor. I have other shirts that have a UPF of 30 or 40. I still like the shirt and any long sleeve shirt provides some protection. I've bought 4 so far.

    • Answer It had no factor per sey but it's a long sleeve shirt so it's got you covered. my son in peru with the peace corps likes it. MY other son canoeing the Mississippi should have taken it.

    • Answer I wore this shirt last weekend on backpacking trip in Rocky Mountain National Park. It was sunny all weekend and my time was spent in and out of cover on the trail. It protected just fine in those conditions. Not sure how well it would have done if I had been spending the whole day in the sun.

    • Answer A large in Columbia shirts fit chest sizes 42-45, this in a large fits chest sizes 42-44. If you like the fit of the Columbia shirts I would think then the large in this shirt would be the best fit.
