thought it was cute, appeared well made, but it was too large in the arm pit, just a little too ill-fitting in the region for me to keep.

This is a really nice sweater. One reviewer mentioned that the sleeves were tight. They are form-fitting, but because the material is stretchy, they are not tight. The design is great. Lightweight, but warm. The color is interesting and versatile.

I like the sweater but it is snug in the arms.
I don't feel like getting an 18. I can wear it and hope it will stretch out a bit as it's a sweater. An Alps wool sweater that I bought 10 yrs ago had quite a generous fit and I ordered this and another sweater thinking it would still be the same. the 2nd sweater in cotton is a little less snug in the arms than this one.
I think the fashion trend toward figure hugging clothing has affected the fit of tops and sweaters in the last several years.

About ALPS

Among some of the most resourceful religious dissidents on record, the Shakers invented the clothespin, the steam-powered washing machine, and the extravagantly textured “shaker” knits that were among the first sweaters produced by ALPS sportswear. Today the ALPS clothing line still produces shaker-inspired knits and other distinctive patterns -- old-fashioned and new --that continue to delight customers loyal to the ALPS brand. From shawl collars and cardigans to chunky-knit vests, ALPS clothing uses novelty yarns spun from cotton, wool, and alpaca -- soft, natural clothing pieces that satisfy the need for cozy top layers and quiet reflection.
