Kids will sleep in this when we have company and run out of beds - but we'll have to turn off the heat for them. I don't see them backpacking them, though.

Haven't used this bag in he outdoors yet, but my current abode has no heat, so I guess it's as though I'm outdoors since we've already had a cold snap. I was warm and toasty! Bag is nice and long (I'm 6'4" 255) and ample in the shoulders. I'd say that the only down side in mostly up-sides is that it takes some acrobatics to zip it all the way up and fasten the velcro to secure the zipper. When I'm using my lighter weight bag, I keep this one in the rig for emergencies. The X-L compression stuff bag is the one you will need for this bag, but I think STP is about out of those. This is a car camping bag, but a nice one.

I'm fairly cold blooded at the beginning of winter but this bag warms me anyway. After polar bearing my body thermostat to a warmer temp, I throw off the bag to cool and flip it back to warm up without waking. I use it all winter and wash it at the laundromat. I finally figured out how the bag ratings apply to me.

  • Question “Does the zipper 'open' at the bottom of the bag to allow another bag to be 'mated' to it? I realize that one bag would have to be used with the hood up instead of laying on the ground, but for the cost, would love to see if these could be zipped together??????”
