This bag was perfect for a winter Boy Scout campout. Temperatures were around 0 degrees. My son and husband stayed warm and comfortable through out the night. My son tends to 'run cold' and he was warm and toasty.

My wife and I were looking for good winter camping bags that we could use for the chilly Montana fall, winter and spring months when the temp dips into the single digits. We tested them last weekend on a backpacking camping trip and aside from their heavy weight, they were quite comfortable. I am 6'4" so I bought the long bag and I bought my wife the regular bag. There are differences in the two, aside the length. The shorter bag has a sinchable neck baffle and better zipper (the longer model doesn't allow you to zip from inside the bag!). As far as the warmth, both of us stayed warm and the outside fabric beaded up drips of water from condensation, keeping us dry inside. We will likely use our bags for winter car camping but because of their weight, we'll think twice about any more back packing trips. If they could make both lengths of the bags with the same craftsmanship and include a compression sack, I would say it would be hard to beat this bag for the buck.

No, I would not recommend this to a friend
This bag will keep you warm, but be prepared to have some problems with it. First, you will have to dry it every morning as it traps moisture in the shell fabric, especially on the bottom, but when it gets really cold, even on top. I never got damp inside the bag, but the outside was often soaking wet. It does however dry easily. The biggest problem I had with this bag was that the zipper started separating after about a week of use. For a while, I would be able to re-zip it, but eventually with more use, it would just separate with even the slightest movement. I just spent a week sleeping in it (with the temperature in the low teens)and not being able to zip it up - a bummer if you ask me. I am a wilderness guide and later found out that the company I work for used to use these bags (the brand) for our clients, but got rid of them for the same exact reason. You really want to have a reliable zipper if you venture into the wilderness in the winter!!!! To make a -20 bags with cheap, bad quality zippers is in my opinion irresponsible.

They will all keep you warm, but for a lightweight, highly compressible sleeping bag, you will have to spend at least 100-200 US$ more. If weight is a bigger concern than budget, don't buy this sack. As a broke student, this sleeping bag is my only real option to continue trekking during winter, and I can handle the extra weight very well.Tested the sleeping bag in 0 deg, was warm and comfy. I'm 6'4", 200 lbs, and I really feel comfortable in it.
