ALPS Mountaineering -20°F Sleeping Bag - Alpine Lake

Bought for my son to use on Boy Scout winter camping trip. Will not fit in a regular stuff sack, but a compression sack would probably help. Regular does not fit a guy that is 5'11" (me), but worked fine for my son who is 5' 7". It will last him until he hits the next growth spurt

This is a BULKY bag--do not purchase it if you're planning on strapping it to a backpack. It is, however, wonderfully warm. It'd be great for car camping, camping in the backyard, sleeping in someone's basement--it's WONDERFULLY warm and comfortable. For the price, it can't be beat.

The bag is well made but small for a me at 6ft. I bought 2 due to the price for my kids. Don't plan on backpacking with this bag.

Zipper can be hard to close from inside and binds occasionally.

used for car camping where weight and size doesn't matter...comfy and warm and gave me a good night sleep!

This bag is pretty awesome. I kills me to pack because i'm a minimalist and this thing is HUGE! but it does the trick in ANY weather condition. I've slept in the dead of winter in this thing and while my buddies were freezing in the tent I was warm as could be sleeping like a baby. The zipper snags every once in a while because it gets caught on the inner lining but once you get the trick to zipping it up without that getting in the way you're fine. Plus it's the best bag for the price hands down.

Runs small, think about going to the long if your a few inches shy of 6 foot. I haven't maxed out the temp rating yet so I'm not sure about the temp rating on this bag. Part of the shell was sewn into the zipper so it's about 2" short of zipping all the way up. IF it didn't cost me a cent, I'd return it for a long and hope that it wasn't poorly constructed like this one. So far, it has been a warm bag down to 20F and the price was the largest selling point for the -20 bag.

I will be using this bag for cold weather camping, typically sleeping in the back of my truck. I tried it out on a cold night here (40s) and it was way too warm, had to keep it open most of the night - which is what I was hoping for. I have a bag I use that's been fine down to 30s, but am spending more time where it can be below 20, so needed to get a better bag. One thing that is nice is that though it leans toward a mummy style bag, it has more room in the knees to shoulders area, making it easy to have a few extra clothes, or a water bottle in the bag, and still be comfortable (I hate really cold clothes or water in the morning). Great value - zipper seems fine to me and I am generally picky about these kinds of things.

I couldn't resist the -20 temp rating for the [$] price. This bag proved to be just what I needed to keep warm during nights hovering at 30F in Alaska. It is a bit big and bulky, so I wouldn't haul it anywhere on foot, but it works great in the car.
