Out of the box it's sturdy & well built. Very comfortable!! In fact, extremely comfortable. But don't get it near sand. We used it at the beach perhaps four times last summer (fresh water), rinsed after each use, & the joints seized up & the ends broke down to the point neither would fold flat & fit back in the bag. Eventually the foot rest broke off. Stick with the cheap box store brands, which have worked well for years & years for us & skip this one. If you don't get wet & want to use on a deck, I think it would be perfect.

Really like this chair. Wish the foot straps were a little longer, so my feet would be lower. Easy to set up, easy to transport, very comfortable. Easy to unhook the foot portion to use as a standard chair (with the foot rest lying on the ground).

I broke my ankle this summer and need to keep my leg propped up. I will use this chair at picnics and soccer games to keep my foot elevated so it doesn't swell. It is very comfortable. So comfortable, in fact, that I don't want to get out of it!
This is what ALPS Mountaineering has on their web site about their warranty. "ALPS Mountaineering is proud of the products we market and we work hard to make them the best we possibly can. This allows us to warrant all of our products against defects in materials or workmanship. This does not cover normal wear and tear or abuse. Here's the example we like to use, making a comparison to the auto industry, since we are all familiar with cars. If you purchase a new vehicle and the motor stops running, it will be taken care of, but tires that wear out or hoods that are dented from hitting a tree are not covered. Maybe we're too midwestern, but "common sense" really does prevail." For more follow this link. http://www.alpsmountaineering.com/alps/warranty
