I have seen countless shooting stars and satellites while car camping for various agencies all while often having uneven rocky ground that would be a real hassle to sent a tent up in. if you have a bivy sac and a good pad this is a safe beat an anything but a snowy windy condition. only issue it is heavy but it is for car camping not backpacking.”
