Most Helpful 5-Star Review

This is a great pack for the price! When I purchased it, I was initially concerned about the durability and the fact that one review mentioned it pressed against the back of your head. When I first tried on the pack, it did indeed press into the back of my head, however loading it lightly pulled it ... Read More

I've been searching for a backcountry backpack that would be comfortable for long hikes, can carry a heavy load, and would be easy to transport .... found it.

This is going on a hiking trip to a month-long China trip and a week-long Adirondacks trek late summer. There are lots of room to carry gears, equipment, clothing, and the external pockets are perfectly sized for quart-sized nalgene bottles. The designer of the backpack put some thoughtful touches such as external access to the bottom compartment, well-placed compression straps, adjustable shoulder straps, and well-padded hip belt.

I'm 5'8" and this fits me perfectly after adjusting the shoulder straps.

improvements: the nylon material feels light (good for weight savings) but I wonder how it will hold in the rough terrain and wilderness after scrapes and falls.

    Very pleased with this backpack.

I am replacing a very nice Osprey backpack and this seems to meet my needs. It is well designed and has plenty of room. The compartments will be helpful separating gear. The belt is very comfortable, and it fits me better (small waist).

Large volume, multiple access points, internal/adjustable frame, water bladder provisions, detachable day pack... everything I was looking for in a back country backpack!

There aren't too many packs that met my criteria and those that did were too expensive. But through Sierra Trading Post I was able to find the perfect back pack at an ever low price. Couldn't beat it!

    Thanks you so much!

This is a great pack for the money! Novice to intermediate, you won't find a better pack at this price level. large sleeping compartment, I can fit my down sleeping bag, thermorest, and my Hennessy hammock with full rain fly in it. Front access as well as top access to the main compartment, which helps a lot. The only issue I have with this pack is that it is a little heavy, just over 5lbs, and I'm 5'10", and no matter what position I have the shoulder/torso adjusters at, my head hits the top of the pack, which just happens to be right where the frame/chassis bars are. Quite annoying.. For someone 6' or taller I'm sure this wouldn't be an issue. Overall decent pack, comes with a rain fly, zip pockets on the waist band, plenty of room for a 5+ night out
