Closeouts. Think of ALPS Mountaineering's Tri awning as shade insurance -- no matter how hot the day is, you'll always have a cool retreat to escape under. Easy-to-assemble three-pole design includes a Sunshield side fabric panel for added protection from the sun.

I like the add on wall for extra protection from the sun. Very heavy and difficult to set up for one person. I thought it was going to tear while setting it up. Ultimately, it is too heavy for anything but car camping. Aluminum poles would cut the weight.

Pretty sweet. Perfect for my new 4 months old baby at the beach. Was the difference between being a good parent and a bad one re: sun-screening. Highly recommended.

Would give it five stars, but I haven't actually used it yet -- just a test set up and take down in my front yard. Was looking for something that I can set up by myself, since I'm doing solo camping/kayaking. I was worried that with only three sides, this would be on the small side, but it actually felt larger than the square 9x11 Kelty shade structure I bought at the same time and compared side-by-side. This was super easy to set up (the rod sleeves were NOT color coded like the instructions said, but I figured it out and have labeled them myself for future reference). Just put together three rods, slide them in, and then put each pin in the grommet at the base. I was able to put this up by myself with minimal time and effort, and I'm 5'2", 105lbs. I think once staked, it will be very stable and wind resistant. LOVE that it already came with an extra side wall to block the sun or wind from one direction. I wish the fabric was a little bit thicker to keep out more sun, but it's not bad and the lighter fabric makes it easier to haul. After battling some other tents with plastic corner connectors that twist and come loose during one-woman set up, I think I'm in love with this tripod thing. I can't wait to try this next weekend.

I set this up by our pool to give a little shade for our new born son and the grandparents. It works great and shades a huge area. It does get hot under the shade so keep the air moving. Will be great for tail gates this fall.

Several years ago I had the Kelty version of this product, which I ultimately decided was too difficult to set up and didn't provide that much sun/rain protection. Then I saw the ALPS version, and thought it might work...loved the idea of a side panel. Also, for whatever reason, it seems a bit easier than the Kelty to put up. Made a second panel for myself out of nylon ripstop, and voila, more protection. Then I decided to get a second Tri Awning and position them together, making sort of an extended igloo. Now I not only have protection for the picnic table, but also a connecting "room" for the kitchen. With respect to user comments regarding wind, I admit I haven't tested this in gale force conditions, but it's proved to be fine in light to moderate winds.

it provide shade but allows the uv rays to burn you - its so hot under this. I put a shade cloth over it and the temp dropped immediately - the fabric is awful and ineffective - very disappointed.

So easy to set up-did it with my 9 year old in my front room first. Works great even out of my front room! Best part-compacts so small I can carry it anywhere with ease. May by another.
