Ara Leslie Gore-Tex® Boots - Waterproof (For Women)

OK, so I am an Ara boot addict. I have been wearing this brand for years. I love them despite the need to add an insole because they are comfortable, stylish and wear well. It is critical to know that Ara labels the calf width on their boots-narrow, regular and extra large. These boots are an extra large. They are great for someone with larger than average calves especially if you like to tuck your jeans in. They are running wide rather than large, which is probably why STP said to size down. Unfornutalely I couldn't find a pair to fit me. So, they are stylish, waterproof leather but run on the wide side. If you want to stay with your normal size and wear heavier socks, I think they will work. Love STP, by way.

When I first received these boots they weren't really what I expected. My husband remarked that they look a lot like motorcycle boots, and I have to agree with him. But, the leather is so wonderful and soft and I loved the thinsulate lining so I decided to keep them. Just a note on the other reviews, they are sized large as well, and I am a 7-7.5 and ordered a size 7 and they were just slightly too large (but not large enough that I think a 6.5 would fit). Anyway, I kept them and wore them out one night with my one and only pair of skinny jeans, and just loved them. Then I wore them to work with a knee length skirt and it was just so comfortable and cute. The more I get used to wearing them the happier I am I kept them. And did I mention they are comfortable? Bottom line, they are a little different, but in a good way. Definitely a great boot for winter, and a fun boot to wear.

I have a wide foot so I didn't pay attention to other reviews that said to order at least 1/2 size down. Even with a wide foot my regular size 7 was too long. I returned for a 61/2 which is perfect. These boots are incredibly soft leather and very comfortable. My sister loved them so much she also ordered a pair. She permanently injured her heel in a car accident and was having difficulty finding shoes/boots to comfortably fit. This leather is so pliable the boots fit her fine. She is thrilled!

I really wanted to keep these boots, but they were more casual than I had anticipated from the photo. Also, they are sized XL for the calf. I'm no skinny Minny, but they really are very roomy, and I was thinking of them more for wearing with skirts than with tucked-in pants. One more thing: My feet are on the wider size of normal, and the boots felt a bit tight width-wise. I had taken the advice of other shoppers and ordered a half size smaller than usual ... maybe if I'd ordered my usual size the width would have been right on.
