This jacket is a functional light jacket, but is not as form fitting as other Arcteryx clothing. The way it is cut allows for wearing a mid-layer underneath. I was able to fit my light down jacket under this one. I am 5'1" and 104 lbs, and bought the XS.

This was too short and too wide for me. It is otherwise a sharp looking jacket and would probably work well for a petite person.

These shorts are made of strong cotton material, a good alternative to all of the nylon shorts. They are long to the knee (I'm 5'8"). They are definitely rugged so are good for very casual wear for running around on weekends. They are too heavy for hiking.

I already had an Epsilon and loved the feel and look of it, so when these came up on a good STP deal, I had to expand my color repertoire. I've read some reviews compalaining about the Epsilon and I'll admit that it might not be technical enough for some. From a certain perspective, it could seem to be neither fish nor fowl and to lack specialized features. I think its designed niche is for aerobic activities in cold weather. It provides some insulation and has some wind- and moisture-blocking capability, but it's not going to keep you very warm by itself. It has a grid fleece interior, but it's a thin, supple jacket. If you want warmth you'll either have to be moving or have some layers beneath (yet it's not designed for wearing over bulky layers in frigid weather). That said, this, like many Arc'teryx jackets, combines fabric quality and tailoring in such a way that it is fantastically comfortable to wear. I really enjoy putting on this jacket. It drapes so nicely and the fabric manages to be pliable and tough at the same time. Looks are outstanding. Colors are beautiful and slightly quirky as Arc'teryx knows so well how to do. Candy Apple Red is aptly named--a rich yet bright red. Greenback requires that you like green; it reminds me of emerging spring foliage, although without any yellowish tinge. I like the understated look of the most recent versions of the Epsilon because they've eliminated the obvious chest pockets. It works much better this way for casual use. Will work for its intended cold-weather aerobic pursuits, although the new Acto is a fantastic and slightly more souped-up version of the Epsilon. Fits the bill as a tremendous around-town jacket in cool weather, with or without layers for warmth beneath.
