I bought these to replace a pair of shells that went over my woolen mitts. These glove-mitts have proved adequate for my basic cold-weather bicycling needs--I've worn them for brief pedals--but the real test will come in extreme, sub-zero (F) weather.

I purchased this for hunting. Although air would come through the flap to my fingers and the palm is not insulated, I found they kept my fingers adequately warm in cold weather even without the thin gloves(included), however I put on a pair of light fleece gloves and they were exceptionally warm. Took them out ice-fishing in 15 degrees and 10mph wind for 4 hours--the hole would ice-over within 3 minutes. My hands were cold, but OK with just these and no gloves, no liners--just bare hands. Best part of the ice-fishing with these is I can slip my entire hand out instead of pulling the gloves off to do delicate work. I found the thumb difficult to slip through the thumb's opening but because I purchased a size larger than suggested, I usually don't use the thumb slit anyway--I can get my entire hand through the finger opening. The larger size also allows me to wear heavier gloves for still hunting in December and for the first time ever, my hands were warm. I've used similar designs made of just fleece, but they were not nearly as effective. I did have to do a stitch job on the flap straight out of the box so wasn't pleased right away, but got over that after I tried them out. They're not majic but do a fine job for my needs. I suppose you could drop a hand warmer in them and be even warmer.

The shooting gloves are thin and give great trigger feel. The velcro closer is excellent. May not be warm enough with just the overmitts in extreme cold. Recommend a thin liner glove inside the shooting gloves for maximum warmth with the overmitts. All things considered this was a good value and a quality product.
