I generally wear between an 8 and a half and a nine, with nine becoming more the case in the past few years. The nines in this shoe were huge, I had a good extra 3/4 inch. I returned them for an 8 1/2 and they still seemed big maybe because my foot kept sliding forward even after I tightened the straps. It was a strange fit for me, can't say for others.
