I want easy-on, easy-off waterproof boots for long (really long--three walks per day averaging two hours overall)cold-weather walks with my German Shepherd Dog. With side zippers these great boots fit the bill in every way except lots of warmth. There is not enough insulation to keep my old feet cozy. If there were, I'd give these boots a five-star rating, despite the fact that the suede will be stained easily by salt on roads and sidewalks. (My dog doesn't care about that and neither do I.) I was going to return the boots but asked my wife (whose feet, after decades of rheumatoid arthritis, medications, and operations are as large as mine) to try them on around the house. She loves them, although she claims they are much too warm to test inside. We may end up keeping these Asolos for her, while I shop (at STP, of course) for something warmer and, thus, heavier. How I wish these Aolos were warmer.... I hasten to add that in hot weather I wear my Asics Gel running shoes from STP while walking Little Buddy (he WAS little, as a puppy). In weather ranging from warm to chilly I use my Vasque Gore-Tex trail shoes from STP. In really cold weather I go to my STP Irish Setter 2000-gram thinsulate side-zipper boots. If you have stuck with me this far, you know that I am sold on STP.
