Reviewed by Katydid from Pennsylvania on Wednesday, May 08, 2013I exchanged the Asolo FSN 70's (Editor's choice award, Backpacker Mag) for these. What a difference! The minute I took these Attivas out of the box and slid them on, I knew they would be just like all the other Asolo's I have worn out. That is, a perfect fit. Comfort like a slipper. Outstanding performance on the Appalachian Trail. I have put thousands of miles on Asolo boots and I fully expect to use these for at least a thousand. I have been wearing them on short hikes around my neighborhood to get ready for another AT hike next week. I can revise this review when I put them to the ultimate test there.

As for size, I'm usually a 9, but after looking at other reviews, went for an 8.5 and it is still a smidge bigger than I expected. But, so far it hasn't had any impact on comfort; I just wear thick socks.

I wanted the comfort of sneakers and protection of Gore Tex during the winter and wet spring months. I fell for the looks of this boot. I like to wear it on my treks, but find it is too stiff to hang around in after the hike. I may purchase a Gore Tex Sneaker to meet my physical needs and not my eyes!

Reviewed by tko from Minneapolis on Sunday, January 20, 2013I ordered my normal shoe size, plently of room for acorn socks with a little extra toe room wich i like, these feel very supporive, no way could I twist my ankles in these. swapped my custom orthodics, that worked great and dont feel slightly too tight as sometimes when I do this

They are a little big and a 9.5 probably would have been the perfect fit but these still do the trick. I've been wearing them around just to be sure and my heal doesn't slip, I haven't had any blisters or sore spots; I've decided the size will work and I will keep them. I've been very happy with them so far!

I exchanged mine for a half-size smaller and am wondering if I could even wear another 1/2 size smaller. Though I'm happy to have a little room to wear big socks for winter...good boots for all activities-including snowshoeing! They are so well made and excellent style. I hate taking them off when I come inside!
