Been wearing these boots for about two weeks now in northern PA in February and so far very pleased! It's been very wet and cold and so far my feet have stayed dry and warm. Worn them on a day hike in fresh snow up to 5" without issue--uppers stayed dry, traction was good, and the Gore-Tex did it's ... Read More

durable, love the rubber toecap. easily transition from the office to the trail. I get a lot of comments from the red laces. Use for hiking on sunny winter days, disc golf, short bike rides to the pub, and to work when its wet. Great lacing system fits them well, but more cumbersome than my (pull on) blundstones (duh!)

Cool hiking/approach like shoe. I have narrower feet and they fit me well. The length is true to size. Light weight and low profile. I've worn them for a couple 10 mile hikes and they were more comfortable than I expected. Waterproof. Pretty flexible and they scramble well.

I have a similar boots (SCARPA) for running, this one is more suitable for hiking I think. really lightweight :-)

Usually, I'm a size 10.5 but I had to re-order size 10 for these. For me, these boots are the perfect combo of lightweight and rugged. I've destroyed numerous boots and shoes hiking off trail in Grand Canyon and these have easily lasted 100ish miles of off trail hiking. They used to be waterproof... each time I kick a cactus, they get a little less so ;-)

I use these Cactus boots for general walking in the city. I like them enough to have two more pair on the shelf (Thanks to STP's great deals) .

    • Answer As I recall, the gusset goes to about 2 inches from the top. I sent them back, so I can't check the boots.

    • Answer All the way to the top.

    • Answer The high part of the gusset where it attaches to the tongue is 2" to top, the high part of the gusset where it attaches to the body of boot is 2 3/8" to top and the lowest part of the gusset, in the dip or bottom of gusset fold is 2 3/4" to top. Have read where it can be intrusive but have not had a problem with that and have put around 75 miles on so far, all on a packed bike track, typically rough on feet because of speed and hammering. Had to trim the left insole at heal left just a tiny bit to keep from rubbing but fine now. If you buy them wear them around the house for a few days to get the feel of them and don't wrench the laces real tight, play around with them.

    • Answer The gusset stops 2.25 inches short of the top of the upper on my pair.

    • Answer I am an E width and my length is 11. If I nudge up a half size on shoes it works out ok. The size upsize gives me more width but sometimes too long and the footbed may not fit either. From what I have discovered, Asolo shoes are very precise in width and length, they have a extremely high quality feel fit. I have found that the Asolo Cactus and Mantra are true to size....BUT........they are suede and they flex nicely and conform to a wider foot. I'm not sure I would try ordering my size 11 in a shoe that was less flexible. The Cactus are nicely flexible but not overly so

Answer: I think your D+ width or even E would work well in the Cactus, just order your regular size 9 in the standard width. I think you'll be just great. I hope so! They are super nice shoes if you like Asolo.
There are so many factors to a shoe fitting a feeling "right". I have rather flat feet but not entirely flat which makes my foot "spread" wide to an E.
Hit me up if you have any more questions.

    • Answer I would recommend sizing up by 1/2 size because the shoes will fit perfectly for a regular width individual. Anything wider will be a bit tight; also, the insoles are not the highest quality--these tend to bunch up in the heel area. I've replaced mine with a better quality insoles. The new insoles and sizing up made all the difference.
      These are still great shoes.

    • Answer I these things fit like a glove. They are much more fitted"I these things fit like a glove. They are much more "fitted" than a standard hiking boot, more like a climbing shoe almost. I would guess you would want the proper width. It might be worth the gamble, I have never had shoes fit this well right out of the box, these are sweet!

    • Answer I think so. Sometimes I find the lace to the toe boots to narrow, but these have fit me well, and I am a solid D width. They are snug to get on for me but comfornable once on, I don't lace them tight.

  • Question “Is size listed UK or USA?”
Asked on 12/31/2013 8:09:14 AM by Erick from Indiana
    • Answer Sizing is USA, however it is not accurate. The Cactus boots should be ordered a half to full size smaller than what you normally wear.
