Asolo's fit my feet, so the most important thing I can write is regarding quality. I wear these things to death without any defects at all. When the rubber outsole wears out I replace them
The shoes are great, I have bought this brand in the past and they wear extremely well. They truly are waterproof and are comfortable. I have a wider foot so you need to purchase a half size larger to compensate as these shoes tend to run narrow in regular sizes.

Like many seniors,( I am 77 years old) it is difficult to find shoes that are comfortable yet are water proof and rugged enough for a wide range of outdoor activities. I have enjoyed Asolo boots for 25 years and these trail shoes, though lighter on the feet than boots, carry on that great tradition. They felt like they belonged on my feet at once. And they are handsome. My wife liked their appearance at once.

These shoes were comfy the first wearing. The toe box is too wide for my narrow feet, but the heel is narrow enough to make the shoes feel secure. I got them for travel as well as for walking on the beach.

Question
“Do these shoes provide excellent traction on STEEP, wet and sometimes slick Northwest style trails? I will be wearing a MIR 60lb weighted vest while hiking so stability and traction are very important to me. I attempted this with regular cross training shoes and it was like skiing on mud.”
Asked on 10/11/2011 12:00:00 AM by Gary from Unknown
Answer
These are better thatn the Typhoon and I take the Wildland Firefighting "Pack Test" in them. 45 lb. vest, 3-miles, under 45 minutes (about 36 for me), now running allowed. I have also had good traction in all conditions with the Typhoon, which has the same sole so I expect these to fill your needs.

Question
“I love Asolo boots-- my plantar fasciitis never flares when hiking in them. But I am looking for a shoe that has a full shank or equivalent. Does this have a full nylon or synthetic stiff shank?”
Asked on 9/2/2011 12:00:00 AM by Dave from Michigan
Answer
The sole and arch of these shoes are pretty stiff, stiffer than my running shoes for example. I have also had plantar fasciitis, but these shoes have never given me any trouble.

Question
“Where can I find the comparable Euro sizing? I would like to know what the size 8 and 8.5 are in Euro?”
Asked on 8/26/2011 12:00:00 AM by Anonymous from Unknown
Answer
These could work, though for that many days I would perhaps want a little more support around the ankle, but that is my personal preference.

Question
“I have been wearing merrells for a while, wanted to try something new. I am an 11 1/2 in merrells, i read that these can run small, should I order up to a size twelve or are they similar in sizing to merrells?”
Asked on 1/17/2011 12:00:00 AM by Dan from Flemington, NJ
Answer
Due to the fact your foot moves forward and has a tendency to swell it is always better to order a half size or a full size depending on your prefence.

Question
“To someone who had hiked in these: how much heavier do these get when they are saturated?”
Asked on 10/31/2010 12:00:00 AM by greentick from deep south
Answer
They don't get heavy at all because they really don't get saturated. They repel water excellent. Of course as with any shoe, if you step in water that goes over and in the shoe it will become heavy and wet.
