Living in the mountains, this is an everyday shoe/boot for me. It's my second pair of Asolos and both are the most comfortable hiking boots I've ever had. Delighted with the price, too. Thank you again, STP!

I'm an avid caver/rappeller that has a difficult time finding the right foot gear for the activities that I immerse myself in, besides living in the middle of the last great hardwood forest. These boots hug your feet w/o binding them. The heel is cupped w/o slippage even with heavy loads. If you're on rock, you don't want real flexible soles and these provide that needed protection. They provide great traction on any semi smooth surface wet or dry, but you have to be careful on smooth surfaces because these are vibram soles. There is definitely a break in period, and you want to do that before any serious workout in them. They are extremely light weight for the durability and support that they provide and I carry enough gear to appreciate the lack of extra weight, lol. The ankle support will save you a sprain or break in the future. The stitching is great and looks to be good for many years of abuse. The protection on the side of the shoe is fantastic for rock work and the tread for walking the side of a cliff will save your face, knees and arms from many abrasions. It has good arch support and stays dry in damp regions. This is not a winter boot, don't walk in the snow because your feet will freeze. The last 2 lace hooks should have been closed loop style. This is my first Asolo product, after hearing about them for years. This boot is comfortable enough for everyday use and extreme environments, they now have another lifetime customer.

The most use is in winter when I shovel & snowblow our Idaho snow. Great arch & ankle support. The boots keep my feet dry & warm. I searched for these boots for two weeks locally without success and then remembered Sierra. I got the boots I wanted and in just a few days after ordering.

After trying 2 different hiking shoe brands, I just keep coming back to Asolos. I've had 3 different type of Asolos and these Discovery are becoming my favs so far. Due to my location (Alaska rainforest), I wished these Asolos were Gore-texed but at least I got a pair that are water resistant and I add spray to reinforce it. Due to feet problems (bone spurs, ankle instability and flat feet), I need specific type of shoes for support and hold my prosthetics inserts with no problem.
