I bought these as a compliment to my older Fugitive's but in wide width which my Fugitive's are not. Living in So Cal, there isn't much of a need for waterproof boots so these are a perfect match and fit. Asolo builds another high quality hiking boot, strong, stiff, comfortable and reliable. I love my Fugitive's and will continue to use them for the conditions that require them and the medium width of them is not a hinderance. But for all other hikes and backpacking adventures, I'll be using these new Echo's because they're that much more comfortable in the wide width for me. If you love Asolo boots, these make for a great pair.

Supportive, super stiff at first but you'll break them in. Eventually. Might get some heel blisters in the process! I'd recommend wearing sock liners. Was hiking up rocky ridge lines in Baja, and scurrying up and down loose scree and they held up like champs. Very protective.

These boots are fairly durable and provide OK support for hiking. UNfortunately, they are difficult to lace up because only the top two sets of eyes are open hooks. This means that it's more difficult to tighten the middle and toe of the boot snugly. Also, these boots are not waterproof but still have the awkward extra flaps of material attached to the tongue which make the boot less comfortable. It's not a bad boot, but you can get other boots (even Asolo boots) for the same price which are better.
Question
“How does these boots fit compared to the FSN 95? (I wear 13W).
I wore a pair of FSN 95s in 13W for years, and they were a perfect fit. I'm curious how these compare. I don't need the Gore-tex, and especially now that STP's coupons exclude Gore-tex products, these have me curious. Thanks!”

Question
“There are no stores in my area that carry Asolo shoes, I have tried on the Merrell MOAB and a 10w feels good with wool hiking sock on, how will these boots size compared to the Merrells?”

Answer
You would also want to get a 10W in the Asolos also. The Asolo may feel a bit snugger compared to the Merrell.

“I got these boots at a great price, but I did not realize they were not gore-tex. If I use a waterproofing, such as what has been recommended, will I get similar results to what I would get if I had bought a gore-tex boot? Thank you.”

Question
“Hi. I am interested in purchasing a pair of Asolo Echo Hiking Boots (For Men), but I am not quite sure what size I should get. My feet are 26cm long, from toe to heel, and 10cm wide, which should be a C on the Brannock device.|The shoe I wear is US 9.5, UK 8.5, or EU 43 in size. So in your opinion, should I get 9 or 9.5?”
Asked on 12/12/2012 12:00:00 AM by Jack from Unknown
Answer
You would want to order the 9.5 since it is a EU 43 (1/3) and the 9 is only a EU 42.5.

Answer
Asolo boots come in a medium(M) and wide(W) width.

Answer
David, I tried on different pairs Asolo (Gortex and Non-Gortex), in both M and W widths, and everytime the W fit better. They run narrow, compared to Merrils, Lowa's, etc. So if you are in doubt or borderline, go with the W.
