My feet sigh relief when I put on Asolo. I love these shoes, the ones made in Romania are the best. I wish the shorter versions of hiking shoes were still made in Romania. Those made in China just don't have the strength and are too flexible. I need hard, stiff soles. Some of these shoes I have are seven years old and they are wearing out but I can't throw them away I use them to garden and work outside.

These are great boots, but because of my narrow feet and low arches I had to modify them with inserts (approx. $40.00). They were definitely worth it, and I think that I would have the same experience with other hiking boots just because of my feet. (I'm a trail runner so I'm used to running shoes and was not really familiar with hiking boots) I bought these waterproof boots for trekking through the Guatemalan jungle during the rainy season (along with a great set of waterproof gaiters). I am now in the process of breaking them in before I leave-I want to log at least fifty miles in them before I start on the trail. I only gave them 4 stars because, although they are great boots, the arch didn't fit my feet perfectly and I can't afford to get blisters on this adventure. My foot is narrow and I have low arches, so I bought inserts which now make these five star boots for me. My daughter bought hers a couple of years ago and they fit her perfectly without inserts. We both are extremely happy with them!

Even though I sized up 1/2 size, when I wore these the first time, am very glad I didn't have to walk very far, because they were still too short. Toes were hurting. Will try with thinner socks, but it's risky to purchase shoes online.

I work as a landscaper and I'm really picky about my boots. They must be bomb proof and totally waterproof... These are both. Looking forward to hiking Mt. Washington in these as well. They are a little stiff initially, but break in fast. What a deal!!

  • Question “Would it be possible for STP to add a notice to this product's description alerting customers to buy their regular size because many buyers have found that this boot runs a 1/2 size large? I ask because I have just noticed this strong consensus in reviews posted earlier than the 5 on the boots' main page -- but *after* I purchased the boots using my usual rule of thumb of ordering hiking boots a 1/2 size larger than my shoe size. STP usually does such a great job of including sizing warnings (i.e. "Runs large; order your regular shoe size," "Runs small; order 1/2 size up," etc.) that I trusted your product description implicitly & didn't read all 10+ pages of reviews. While an updated description will be too late to help me -- I requested overnight delivery so that I could break the boots in during a trip to Colorado that starts on Sunday, but am now likely to have to return them & go to CO bootless -- it would certainly help other potential buyers. Please consider it! Happy New Year.”
