To start off I am not really an AVID hiker, but I am certainly more than a recreationalist. I would say I hike about 4 hours a week with the dogs through a variety of terrains. We live in North GA and there is a LOT of nasty clay on the beaches and this time of year has a lot of downed wet leaves on the trails. These boots handle incredibly well in both situations with good traction on slick surfaces. I can comfortably wear a medium thickness sock and have no issues with hot spots or foot sliding in the shoe. They are easy to lace and can reasonably tighten the boot on my foot with little effort. I bought these on a rave reccommendation from a family member who just loves Asolo. I am very happy I listened to him. One last disclaimer; I typically gravitate towards shoes with a wider toe. This shoe has a narrow toe bed. Had I tried these boots on before ordering them, I might not have bought them. The width doesn't their comfort for some reason. My foot isn't squished, just sort of "hugged tighter" than I typically like. Glad I just took a chance and ordered them. Great boot.
