I purchased these boots to do a day hike up Mt. Whitney. I had gotten a recommendation on the boots from some hiking friends. When I received the boots I was so excited! They were my favorite color, blue, and they look mean (tough). I wore them a total of 2 hours of walking my dog and my feet were crying after only about 15 minutes. They were too hot to wear with smart wool socks so I switched to wigwam hiking socks with olefin. These were cooler however I could feel all the rough spots inside the boots. I ordered a half size smaller than normal but I think the boots were just too big. Overall at 2 pounds per boot it also weighed too much. There was no give and no cush any where in the boot. I am very sad I have to return. I can only imagine the agony I would endure if I did hit the trail with these boots.

This is my second pair of ASN 85s. The first pair I bought used in 2001. I wore them solidly for a year in Europe and took them out for dayhikes for years as well as a backpacking trip. They treated me really well until (as with all my shoes) the back of the heel started to wear. When I found these on Sierra Trading Post it was not a question that I'd buy them again. They're great boots for the kind of hiking I do/plan to do. The only question was the size, since I'd gotten rid of my old ones. I usually wear between a 7-7.5, but ordered the 6.5 based off the recommendation to order smaller and off the European sizing (conversion chart on Asolo's website) which is FAR more reliable than American.

I've only worn them a few times so far, but they are very comfortable, offer great traction....and they are super cute! However , I dd return my first pair as they ran about a full size too large. Good stuff!

I need a great deal of ankle support for ankles that have a lifelong history of over-treading (a small pebble can turn my ankles over) I was unwilling to spend a great deal of money since I am not a hiker and the boots would be used for mostly flat-terrain walking. I also wanted a shoe that was nice looking. On all accounts this shoe fit the requirements. The boot is stiff, but has never left a blister or mark. It is ankle supportive and lightweight. I may buy another pair. I would be sad if they were no longer available when I need my next pair.

Love these boots! They needed little breaking in, are extremely comfortable, provide great support, and are durable.

I dont think these boots were too big, like everyone else says they were. I do feel that I was between a size 9.5 and a 10, and decided to go up the size and wear thicker socks. Incredible comfortable boots, hardly had to break them in. Great value. Love the rubber toe box.

I really like these boots. My old hikIng boots finally fell apart irreparably after ten years so I had to get some new ones. These are comfortable right out of the box, though a little stiff. Took a couple of hikes to break them in all the way for me. They do run big. I ordered a half size smaller than usual and they fit. I have wide feet, and they seem a little narrow to me, but as long as you don't have hobbit feet like me, you'll probably be fine.

I bought the boots and sent them back for a size smaller thinking that was the issue. The size smaller fit nicely, however the heel is not fitted and my heel slips with every step. This will be a nightmare on a 15 mile hike! I can see the blisters now so I am sending them back and going to purchase the same pair of Merrels I bought last time. Dissapointed as I heard such wonderful things about Asolo...

So far I've used these boots to shovel snow and walk our dog on the snowy sidewalks. They are warm, are stable / have good traction and are very comfortable.
