Took a little break in by wearing them once or twice a week before my first trip . The real test was a 9 day 60 mile backpacking trip in the Sierra . I have duck-like feet ( narrow heels and wide toes ) so I have a difficult time fitting boots . Blisters are S.O.P. for me . These fit great and I had...

The Asolo FSN Gore-Tex Hiking Boots are a great hiking boot. My first hike with these boots was through the wet trails on the Blue Hills in Massachusetts. They felt comfortable with no break-in time needed. They are a quality boot that I feel confident will last me many years.

I have owned three pairs of these and they feel great on my feet. I used them everyday in steep rugged terrain and have never gotten a blister from them. However, the double stitched seam that runs from the toe to the heel consistently comes undone rendering the boots useless. I have never had a pair that lasted more than three months of extreme use.

Finally found another pair of Asolos that fit great and are nearly indestructible. I wore a similar pair of Asolo boots for six months straight in the mountains of Afghanistan, with nearly no break-in required, these boots just what I needed. Now I found a place to get them for under $150. Fit is exact, and durability is excellent, these boots are perfect for my needs.

Asolo is the best over all boot I have ever found - Quality of build, Materials used, And consistant in sizing - 2nd pair of FSN 95s, perfect fit in both pair. I have slso had other models of their boots-dido. Great light to mid-weight hiking / backpacking boot.
My feet actually created an opposite scenario. I normally wore in between 11.5 and 12.0. 12.0 fit better. I wear medium thick socks with no probs. keep an eye on toe box rubber. Mine started to break down for some mysterious reason on first pair after 3 months. Returned to stp, got credit, ordered a 2nd pair, and no probs so far after 2 months

I first went to an outdoor store which carried Asolo boots. Not this exact model and tried them on. I then ordered my first pair with no problems. I typically wear 11.5 and found them true to size.

Take out the ASOLO insole and put in and put in a thin one ( like from a hi tec shoe)

The shoes I received and have since returned were great looking and did not appear to have any errant stitches or anything that would define them as seconds. They were great looking but for me the toe box was too small around the second and third little toe and I knew on a long hike I would get battered toes.

I don't know the answer, but if they are seconds, they are better that most firsts. Derf from Washington
