The tread is really tore up, they're no longer waterproof and they developed a huge knot right above my big toe so they're toast now. Never got any blisters wearing these and felt extremely comfortable until these problems developed. Would I get another pair, probably not, but will look at a higher end Asolo. I would really like to get 2 years out of my hiking boots. I do a lot of hiking in the spring when the trails are extremely wet and need them to keep their waterproof abilities.

Will give you my initial impression. Solid, stiff, strong. Need to be broken in, no doubt. The sizing is correct. I ordered a wide which is perfect with a thick sock. I recommend ordering the wide size. The laces lock in, 3rd from the top. You can cinch the boot on nicely right where it needs it. That's all I got. I'll report more in a week or so when I put them to the test.

Answer The colors are very different. The graphite/stone is grey and black, and the cortex/black is brown and black.

Question “What is the difference between M and W? I bought a pair of Asolo Fugitive G-Tex Waterproof Hiking Boots from you - is the sizing for these boots similar? (Not sure if mine is a M or W in the last model) Thanks.”

Answer The M is the medium width and the W is the wide width. To check to see if you have a wide. You would want to look at the logo on the tongue of the boot. On the side of the logo is a tag that say Fugitive GTX. If it is a wide it will say Fugitive GTX Wide, if it is a medium it will just say Fugitive GTX.

Question “I have slightly wide feet. I tried on a pair of the latest version of the Fugitive GTX boots in regular width and they fit perfectly. I did read a review on this site that the boots fit very narrow. Can someone tell me if the model (maybe older?) of this boot that Sierra Trading Post is selling fits somewhat narrower than the latest model?”

Answer These are last season's boot. I believe you will find they fit the same. The next review by Jim the Peak Bagger he mentions he tried them on at another retailer and the boots he bought from us fit the same.

Question “How durable is the sole of these boots? As a wildlife biologist I walk >10 miles/day in harsh terrain pretty commonly. How does the sole durability compare to the FSN95 and Sasslong?”

Question “Received this boot today and thinking of sending it back because the lace grommets are made of plastic. All the grommets are made of plastic though nothing is said of this in the specs. The picture of the boot shown looks very much like traditional polished metal. I question the integrity of cheap plastic on a 200 dollar boot. Has anyone had any issues with this boot? I have to lace mine up very tight for my heel.”

Answer You probably will not notice much difference, if they feel a bit loose I found thicker pair socks fixed that.

Question “I recently tried on a pair of Asolo Fugitive GTX size 12 in store and found them to be uncomfortably snug in the bridge of my foot below the ankle(i.e. the highest point of the foot). Wide sizes were not available to try and I was wondering if I should go ahead and order a wide size in these shoes?”

Answer The wide will be wider in forefoot but I don't it will be much higher at the instep.

Question “I typically wear a size 12 in other boots, such as Keen and Merrell. I tried on a pair of Fugitive GTX in 12 and they seemed tight right around the area below my ankle. I have flat feet due to PTTD and was wondering if a size 12 in Wide would be better for me than the size 12 in M (they didn't have wide in store).”
