Closeouts. Ultra-durable and water-resistant, Asolo's FSN 85 hiking boots can handle almost any trail on your topo map. Experience why Asolo's FSN collection received Backpacker's magazine "Best Backpacking Boot" award!
I just recv'd these boots and haven't hiked in them yet. They appear well made (expected from Asolo) and to be a great value. In a hour +/- of trial wear, they produced no hot spots. I have a 10C foot and bought 10.5 boots. I can lace them tight enough to work OK as-is, and I expect I will also be OK to add a footbed to get a better (semi-custom) fit. I gave it 4 stars (instead of 5) because I expect the traction is marginal in loose or slick terrain with the given tread design & depth. Thumbs up for non-GoreTex.

I just replaced a pair of heavy old Danner boots with these. They weigh about half as much. I've taken two dayhikes in the NC mountains and they performed well. I find the footbed a bit hard, but after about 14 miles of varied terrain, no blisters or rubs. The midsole shank allows stepping on sharp rock etc. without the shoe bending.

As I have only had them for a short period of time, they have been a great boot. A little stiff to begin with, but once you get them broke in they feel great. The only issue is the metal shoe lace hooks, they try to pinch your laces. Other than that, I'm glad I bought these boots.

Purchased for plains game hunting in S. Namibia in early spring and warm 70-80 degree temperatures.
Even with my VERY flat feet the boots seem to cause no foot pain after several hours, something that I cannot say of many boots that I have tried .
Can't speak to wear/durability yet...

Below the insert is thick hard plastic that runs the length of the boot. I clearly did not wear them long enough before my first backpacking trip because the boots CHEWED up my heals. I think it was due to this plastic and the fact I am right between sizes with narrow heals. I highly recommond breaking them in VERY well...I am going to give them a second chance with a five day trip. Call me crazy.

Great boot! I wore them right out of the box at a scout camp in the High Uintas in Northern Utah. The area was at 10,000 feet in elevation. They were comfortable right out of the box but should have been broken in prior to camp. I did have a few hot spots but they never turned into blisters. They seemed to be fine on the fifth day of camp. Boots were supportive hiking over rocks and rough trails. Good traction. I need to buy a second pair.
