We excercise by running up and down the Stezlecki hills (pretty steep) but we don't run on roads- we run through grassy paddocks- the shoes are GREAT! They handle the mud, the traction allows us to run up the steep hills better than any shoe we've tried, and our feet stay comfortable and dry despite mud, rain or snow!

These are the perfect trail running shoes. I've been waiting years for these. I live in SE coastal Massachusetts, which is glacial terrain, rocky eskers with swamp in between (New England's version of basin & range, I guess). The combination of the high tops and waterproof/breathability makes these truly all-terrain, all-weather running shoes. They combine the best qualities of running shoes (speed, agility and comfort) with the best qualities of hiking boots (dryness & ankle support). The soles are grippy without aggressive tread that could catch and trip you on rough terrain (like running downhill on rocky trails). They are light enough that you can truly run in them, unlike hiking boots. They were comfortable from the moment I put them on and unlike hiking boots, I forget I'm wearing them. They are a little large in the toe box, but I would not recommend sizing down, as the rest of the shoe is proportionate and a smaller size would be too small in width and heel area. I did what I usually do with shoes that are too roomy: cut the heels off an old pair of insoles and put the toe part under the regular insole. This also provides more cushioning and insulation, so I actually prefer shoes/boots that are a little too roomy. It's raining right now and I can't wait to get out and run after work. Swamp Thing, here I come!

These run very large. The 10.5 I got is actually larger than a size 11 Salomon shoe I got at the same time.

I bought these shoes for my daily walking routine through wet grass, wooded trails and wet weather. They have performed perfectly! The fit is loose for the size with a roomy toe box. They were totally comfortable from the first time I wore them. And I'm a hard fit since foot surgery. Personally, I don't find them stylish, but, frankly, who cares since they are the perfect shoe for the use intended. One con which I find strange. When they are wet, they give off a bad odor - rather like cat urine. This has never happened with my other athletic shoes or GoreTex hiking boots. The odor does discipate after machine washing. So be prepared to wash frequently or you'll attract a gang cats! Inspite of this quirk, I love these shoes!

I bought these b/c I wanted to buy some everyday running/walking shoes and shoes I could wear hiking. These shoes do not breathe at all and they are not cushioned very well. They do provide good support for ankles...but I under-pronate and have a rod in one leg, so I needed both a supportive and cushioned shoes. I ended up returning these. They are attractive shoes though.

I have been running in this shoe this past winter in northern Wyoming. It has been snowny, wet and icy and his shoe has been great. Until I bought this shoe I was running in a winter snow boot. This shoe is lightweight and fully waterproof. Good traction on slick surfaces and in snow and ice on trails and frozen ground. The mid height helps keep out the snow.

Use for outdoor walking in inclement weather. They are comfortable, light weight, excellent in snow, slush and mud and are very watertight.
