Like may of us, I am picky about my gear---a real gear-snob even. I have owned Asolo boots since 1982 when I bought by first pair of leather Asolo "Yukon's". They were the best boot available back in the day and I can confidentially assure you that Asolo remains at the top of modern hiking/climbing boots today. These boots (Moran) represent everything a person could want in a light/mid-weight boot. At 2 pounds 12 ounces (size 10) they feel more like cross-training shoes. Immediately, they felt like I had worn them for years---no break in! They gave superb ankle and sole support when scrambling around on heavy scree and talus even with a 45 pound load and my feet did not over-heat in 90 degree weather. I have not had a chance to cold-test them yet but I am certain they will perform best in class in cold environments. Living in Washington state, waterproofness is essential---these boots are bone dry even in the worst the Northwest can throw at me. Finally, they have done me very well in moderate semi-technical rock climbing and bouldering. In summary, I would bet good money that you will not be able to find a better boot in the light/mid-weight class at any price. Moreover. . . . they look GREAT! Thank you Sierra Trading Post for offering these boots at such a great price and bringing them withing a comfortable range of my wallet. Now I have extra money to spend at your store!

Some people just won't rate a perfect product w/5 stars. Well here it goes, 1. FACT; absoultely true to size. and actually I purchased a pair of these in both an 11 & 11.5 size. Not on purpose it was just what was available at the time . Do you know then difference between the two? 1/8" big woop!! 2. Fact; These are backpacking not hiking boots which mean they are kind of a hybrid between hiking and mountianeer boot. Very comfortable yet heavier duty than say the asolo synchro gtx which i also own. I also own the kayland apex mountianer boot so i do know all of this by pure experience. 3. Fact; Their really is not any break in period as they are ready to go. 4. Now this will be my opnion only; If you are going to do serious backpacking i think not only will you appreciate the better support than a regular hiking boot but they will also last longer, however if just hiking light i would go w/ asolo reg hiking boot. 5. Now waterproof ability; One time caught in a 12 min downpour and was bone dry. i realize that is not saying much but that is all i have. 6. As far as warmth i live in sacramento valley so the temps here 40-50 degrees lowson average for winter so not much of test but was warm.

These boots are bananas. I have an extensive background in the outdoor environment. I am prior military and have used these boots over seas. They are light weight so they minimize fatigue. The soles make it possible to traverse the nastiest terrain. In addition the gortex and waterproof properties provide the owner multi-seasonal use. Buy them. They are true to size and if you have a wide foot they are a tad narrow, so order appropriately.
