I got these to hike in and also to walk to the train and to work here in the NYC area (I wear my ski clothes to work then change into shirt tie at work) and they are totally comfortable of the 4 mile... Read More

The is the second pair of Asolo boots that I have ordered from STP. I have to say that I'm looking forward to wearing these new boots as long as I did the others. Which just happens to have been for a 2 year period. These boots are rugged but extremely comfortable. I'll be back when the time for another set rolls around.

I ordered a my normal size 13 and my toes were swimming around in the toe box. As far as the quality of these boots they are fantastic! I'm sending them back to exchange for a size 12. Hopefully they will fit perfectly since it seems they run a size to big. As for Sierra Trading Post what a wonderful company that exists giving us such great deals!

Bought these as a replacement for an older pair of asolo boots. These boots are great for light hiking or walking around town .

An old pair of FSN95s have served me very well and I was excited about the color options of the Neutron line, however I'm two months into these boots (wearing them once a week) and still have a hot spot that has yet to disappear. Hopefully it will soon and I can enjoy these without fear of owning a pair of duds. I've noticed a slightly roomier toe box than the FSN95s. I bought a pair of the Moran model last week and they are so much more boot for just a little more money!

I Purchased other boot brands for my boyfriend, but finally decided to purchase him the Asolo, as has been my hiking boot for years. He has a very active job (landscaping and tree care), besides walks all day long; got them on a Wednesday and he wore them for two weeks every day till date. You do not need to break in these boots. And can wear them non stop, plus they are good looking boots. He loves them and does not want to wear anything else, so we are getting him another pair.

    • Answer Yes they are removable, but I do not remove them.
Answered on 4/13/2014 11:54:44 AM by Internet Mom from NC
    • Answer Yes, they are removable. It is easier to remove them by prying on the instep side of the insole. Reach inside the boot, and pry on the right side of the insole of the left boot. To remove the insole from the right boot, pry on the left side of the insole. They are easily removed, and you can replace them with whatever is the most comfortable for your particular foot.

    • Answer Yes, they are removable. I normally use Happy Feet insoles in my shoes, but so far after 3 hikes, I've found these boots with the Asolo insoles are great. Almost no break-in required, at least in my case.

    • Answer Thanks all! I think I get it now since responses are not 100% in sync. It's not really meant to have a removable insole (not mentioned in description or specs), and may be lightly affixed (or not), but fairly easy to pull out and replace, or keep and add an arch support underneath it.

    • Answer Sorry for not responding sooner. The answer is yes. The insoles can be removed, similar to a pair of basketball shoes. They appear to be adhering with a glue like sticky substance, but would not take much effort to remove.

    • Answer Romania just like the fsn-95 model, so far no real problems but I only have about 25 hrs in them outside around the home place, no real hike stresses placed on them yet. They supposed to be a step above the fsn-95 model, time will tell. I hope their sole glue isn't like the 95 model which has failed me
2 times in the past after 1 year of hard use.

  • Question “I have a B width foot. How do these run? Would an M width boot work or be too sloppy?”
Asked on 2/1/2014 7:41:54 AM by Scotty4991 from Colorado
    • Answer Since you have a narrow foot most Asolo boots fit snug so with a heavy pair of socks they should work for you.
Answered on 2/10/2014 7:58:45 AM by Product Specialist Marv from Sierra Trading Post
    • Answer My first pair of Asolos were FSN-95's. I wore them for 5 years and still use them but the soles are worn, so mom ordered me these Neutron boots for christmas. These soles seem to grip really good, they are more comfortable than my old pair, but I have not worn them in the woods yet, or hiked miles in them yet. I've just worn them for normal daily wear so far. They were comfortable from the beginning.
Answered on 1/8/2014 6:22:51 PM by Internet Mom from NC
    • Answer Hi,
I find the soles stiff enough.
I recently used the shoe on rocky himalayan trek full of rock, gravel, mud, jungle, snow.

Never did I feel the sole transferring the shocks inside or the rock edges pressurising my foot.
I would say the sole is tough.

Still that would remain a personal choice based on the terrain that I faced.
I would be better if you walk into a STP shop and try them personally.

      Cheers!
