Great shoe as it is lightweight, comfortable and sturdy. Also, very well made. These shoes do run about one size large, however, I tried these on at the store and was told that for hiking, it is advised to buy one size larger than your normal size. This accommodates a thick sock and it prevents you... Read More

These boots were instantly comfortable when I wore them for the first time. The boots are true to size (for the most part) but still leaves space for your thicker pairs of hiking sock. I highly recommend that you invest in any pair of Asolo brand shoes from sierra trading post; its totally worth it for such a great price!

I usually take a size 5-12 in a regular shoe. Having read that these run a bit on the large side, I ordered a size 6 and they fit perfectly with room for liner socks and heavy hiking socks. They were comfortable as soon as I put them on. I could have easily gone on a long hike the same day if I had wanted to do so.

I wore these boot on the North Country Trail through Ohio and Michigan. They were perfect right out of the box. True to size. Waterproof (although I still sprayed them-safe measure). Good foot and ankle support. Definitely worth the cost.

I've purchased Asolo mid-height boots and love them (I mostly climb around on rocky desert mountains off trail).
These Neutrons have higher ankles for better support and the Vibram soles are superbly grippy and stiffer than the GTX models. They're closer to a backpack boot than a hiking boot IMO without being heavy.

However the Neutrons in the same size 9 and the same mid-weight hiker socks are deeper top to bottom and wider when first put on... almost as if they were a men's boot. For my low volume feet I need to crank down further on the laces to make them fit. But amazingly the heel does not slip and they are very comfortable.

I think these will be ideal for those with more foot volume. I'm going to add another sock or an insert and it's off to the races.

I bought these because I had to retire my 10 yr old beloved pair of Asolo's. This new pair I think will serve me as well. One thing to note is that although I always wear a solid size 8, I had to return the 8 for a 7.5 and I still have plenty of room in the toe. Otherwise they are comfortable out of the box, and I have worn them a few time and they are comfortable and I think will serve me well.

    • Answer Depends on the deal code or ad "click-through" you use. Might be free, might be ~$1 (US), might normal shipping of around ~$13. As for a return, it's $5.95 (US) to return for a refund, or $2.95 for an exchange if memory serves

    • Answer I just came home from a hike in these boots. I live in VT, where it finally snowed about a week ago. The snow on the path was about 4 inches deep, hard and crusty, not especially slick most of the time. The boots felt sturdy and supportive, and the traction was good. I would use them with crampons though if the conditions were icier. Their waterproofing is good, but I can't speak to their warmth because I used toe warmers.

    • Answer We just got back from a trip to Fairbanks, Alaska for viewing the Northern Lights and dogsledding! They were perfect! Warm with a heavy sock, stabile on the slick snow and completely dry feet! We have bought 2 pair for the cold Colorado winters and love them! Haven't used them with our snowshoes yet, but plan to. No reason they won't perform as perfectly as they have for every other use! They are also great in the summer for hiking and fishing for good ankle stability!

    • Answer I have snowshoes with mine here in Utah and they are great. I think the key with these boots is definitely have a great, warm, tall, well padded technical sock. I feel the insole could have some more cushion so I insert my Asia running shoe insole and use Phd Smartwool ski or snowboard socks. The boots are warm and comfortable and fit true to size. I am a women's size 6.

    • Answer Hi, I know that this is days after you sent question but I thought I would respond. I have only worn Asolo hiking boots for my work, as I work in the field in Colorado for the US Forest Service. I have been extremely happy with the tread, and I wear these in streams, off trail, on logs, etc. Obviously a different environment than you and your daughter, but I am very happy with them. And I know what it is like to have no tread as I wore my last pair until they became a liability! I wore them to nothing!

    • Answer US Sizing. I found that the sizing I need in this brand is the size I wear every day, if not running a smudge smaller.

      Hope that helps!
