4.0 out of 5 stars. Solid boot; unique size chartReviewed by elskbrev from Oconomowoc on Saturday, January 30, 2021Click on the "sizing" tab to find the Asolo US/Euro sizing chart. That said, I did initially choose size 6.5/38, when I tried them on in the store, and decided they were a bit too short. Brought them right back, exchanged for a Size 7 or 38 2/3. That is about right, and I can wear heavy wool ski socks in them. The toe box is medium, not oversized, as in so many other shoes.
I had serious pain at the outside of my ankles, where they touched the boot, at first-- just sitting around, not even walking, and not laced tightly, the pressure points at the ankles were painful. I wore them daily in the house and on short walks for a couple of months, with the top two ankle hooks open, hoping to break them in. I still cannot lace them all the way up to the top, but the ankle seems to have broken in a little, and I no longer have pressure point ankle pain.
These were my first ever hiking boots. I usually buy athletic shoes for walking.
I was hoping this solid shoe would provide the kind of supportive non-gel cushion needed for hours of walking. (I find that shoes made with gel insoles tend to feel like heaven at first, but gel insoles break down quickly, even though I am light on my feet, at about 125 lbs. Expensive custom gel insoles might solve that problem, but they break down, too.)
In the past, I have stayed away from stiff boots like these, because of an old injury that can act up if the foot strike is too rigid. These have at least a 1/2-1 inch drop from heel to toe, which is what I need.
I have gotten used to these, so that they are comfortable even if I am on my feet for hours at a time. Sometimes, I put a solid arch support into them, or a heel cushion. I realize these comfort issues are more about my foot problems than about the shoe.
They seem to be a solid, well constructed boot, which one should expect from Asolo. I noticed that some reviewers had problems with the construction of this shoe. After three months of light wear, I have not seen problems with it, except behind the heel, but that started detaching only because I was using the toe of the other boot to take them off. -

5.0 out of 5 stars. Asolo boot collectionVerified Buyer Reviewed by Brenda from Story, WY on Saturday, February 8, 2020I love to rotate my boots for the good of my feet. I just realized ALL the boots in my daily rotation are Asolos in assorted styles and colors. The comfort and quality are beyond any other boot I've owned. Thank you again, STP!

3.0 out of 5 stars. Nice boots but not for meVerified Buyer Reviewed by Likes to Hike from Oregon on Wednesday, February 5, 2020These are well made, quality hiking boots, but they didn't work for me. The tops rubbed and created welts on the sides of my leg. This happened with several 6" boots, and I couldn't figure out any way to adjust any of the boots to prevent it. They were very comfortable on my foot, but the calf bruises were a deal breaker.

3.0 out of 5 stars. Color not as picturedVerified Buyer Reviewed by SBadventurer from California on Tuesday, February 4, 2020The gray color is more brown than gray so I ended up returning.
Otherwise, I love asolo boots -
5.0 out of 5 stars. Love them.Verified Buyer Reviewed by Ali from Montana on Monday, December 2, 2019My second pair. 1st pair are at least 10 yrs old and the rubber started to peel at the toe, but otherwise in amazing shape. The new pair are great. Exactly what I wanted.

5.0 out of 5 stars. Awesome and stylishVerified Buyer Reviewed by PepePaige from San Francisco on Sunday, November 3, 2019Fit perfectly and look great. I ordered a half size larger to accommodate wool socks. Plenty of room and I can easily tighten the fit with the laces. I ordered a pair for my daughter, too.

4.0 out of 5 stars. Third PairVerified Buyer Reviewed by Runnergirl from Connecticut on Wednesday, October 16, 2019I very much like the fit of Asolo boots. This is my third pair that I have purchased through Sierra. First pair left in Africa after climbing Kilimanjaro (given to porter). Second pair was worn on and off for hiking locally. Rubber around soles deteriorated. They were stored in basement, so that maybe caused it to happen. New boots fit well but I haven't hiked in them yet. Will not store in cellar!

5.0 out of 5 stars. Buy these Boots!Verified Buyer Reviewed by Hollyanne from MN on Wednesday, October 9, 2019I had been doing quite a bit of hiking in tennis shoes, and was constantly worried about rolling my ankle, slipping and support. I am not (yet) used to wearing boots, but took them for a trial hike right out of the box. They need a bit of breaking in, but have amazing support (definitely not rolling an ankle in these!). They are not light, but have good grip on all different types of terrain which feels like a perfectly fine trade-off to me! I ordered my usual size and have plenty of room in the toebox even with thick socks. Overall, these boots kick [...] and I am very happy with my purchase =)

4.0 out of 5 stars. I like AsolosReviewed by Katya from Virginia on Monday, September 30, 2019My feet are so screwed up: flat-footed as a table top and nerve-damaged from Sciatica: literally a real pain constantly. Nothing is perfect on me, but I manage in these all day. I need a stiff boot and have found Asolos have the support I need. They can rub as I have read in some reviews, but I keep my boots laced up pretty tight. Right now and for more than 10 yrs Asolo has been my go-to brand just to function. I don't find this particular style heavy, but have had that experience w/ a different style. They also hold up remarkably well.
