Just received the Asolo Powermatic 100's and WOW! I got these after returning the Alico Guide Mountaineering boots which killed my feet. The Powermatics are comfortable right out of the box. I did get a wide and it's a perfect fit. THESE BOOTS RUN VERY NARROW. I wear a regular in all other boots... Read More

Best and most comfortable hiking boots so I now really enjoy walking. I am 70 with a big 13 and wide foot and these fit perfectly - and the Vibram soles gives me lots of support. Easy to get on and off. And they look 'cool', too. A great buy!!

Quick break in. Unparalleled support and durability.

These really are great boots....so I bought two. They run a little narrow for my fat, flat feet but are very comfortable in a "wide" width. Gro-Tex helps keep my feet dry. Only two less than thrilled about comments; 1) Seem to take forever to dry after a real down pour, 2) Weight - they are heavy. However, the rugged construction is a great stabilizer in very rocky terrain.

These are some pretty tough boots. Heavvvyyyy, though. If you're looking for a light trail runner, these are not it. If you want to feel sturdy and confident in your every step, these are a great deal. For half the price, you can't beat em.

Asolo boots are the most comfortable and long lasting boot I have ever had, I have had 7 surgeries on my ankle and had difficulty finding a boot that had the support and comfort I needed. This is my 3rd pair of Asolos and will continue wearing them for the rest of my life. They have made my quality of life better.

    Thanks, Keith

    • Answer I love my Asolo 100's. Before I bought them I also compared them to the 200's. Not much difference at all is what I found. Same movement in the sole, same quality and I saved more than 100 dollars. I have used them for the last three months volunteering on the AT rebuilding trail and hiking. My feet never got wet and I never obtained one blister, not one, and they were brand new when I started. I think it is an excellent boot. Before I bought them I compared them to Lowa, Solomon and a couple of others. Most of the others said they were water proof but the reviews said they were not, also the other boots did not have the flexibility of the Asolo. I am 57, done a lot of hiking and I'm afraid I have to say this but they really are the best boot I have ever worn. Hope that helps.

    • Answer Good question. Yes, sizes are US standard shoe/boot sizes. Sierra's website has a UK and EU conversion table on their website, if applicable.
I'veve too made the mistake of ordering a US size only to discover it was a EU size.

    • Answer The only differance I can see is the soles. I have a pair of each, the sassalon, I bought two years ago and have put allot of miles on them. They are a great boot for the money. I do a bunch of hiking in the high country and they have held up very well. The soles are worn almost smooth so I tried a pair of the Powermatic this time with the rubber sole to see if they would hold up better walking in the scree fields. I like them so far but haven't give them the ultimate test yet.

    • Answer I bought these on the recommendation of a family member who has been backpacking for 30 years and has owned many pairs of Asolo boots. Both boots have merits , I like the micro pulley system for the shoe laces on the powermatic ,makes them super easy to remove and tighten. I hike the mountains of Colorado and so far these boots have proved superior to any other boot I have had.

  • Question “What's the difference between the medium and wide width?”
Asked on 12/4/2013 12:21:39 PM by Mike from Canada
    • Answer I have a D width foot and I ordered the regular. I was concerned about it too but, these boots fit really well. Unless you have an extra wide foot, order the regular.

    • Answer I do not know the exact measurement difference between the two, but I chose the wide width after trying on similiar Asolo boots at different outdoor shops. If you have this option then I suggest that. I have what is considered a wide foot and the wide fit my foot much better. The Newer Powermatic(200) is a similar cut boot. I could not find it in the wide anywhere but found another similar Asolo boot that came in wide and felt that the extra width made a big difference. It allowed me to order a 10.5 instead of an 11. They are a great feeling boot. I have been out on two hikes and they felt good. They replaced a 40 year old pair of Raichle's.
