Just received the Asolo Powermatic 100's and WOW! I got these after returning the Alico Guide Mountaineering boots which killed my feet. The Powermatics are comfortable right out of the box. I did get a wide and it's a perfect fit. THESE BOOTS RUN VERY NARROW. I wear a regular in all other boots... Read More

My feet are a tad wide for some footwear and after trying on several at a few different store over the years, I think Asolo runs a bit narrow. I was glad to see they offer couple in a wide which turned out to be a good fit (13 wide). Can't speak of long term comfort or durability, but they felt pretty good on a 4 mile walk the other day and seem very well built. The pulleys make tightening and tying a cinch.

My husband fell over 30 feet from a tree in March of 2013.The accident broke his back, leg and destroyed his ankle.Seven surgeries later, he was back to work at our local power company. There was extensive damage to the ankle, with arthritis already and nerve damage. This is literally the ONLY shoe he can wear and walk in.Whether it be work or for everyday. He has wore the first pair EVERY day for almost a year and they are still in great shape! And he doesn't have an office job. These boots have been through the mill.We recently ordered the second pair so they would look nice for church. In addition, his feet stay dry!He raves about these boots! We wanted to write this review for anyone with ankle problems!!!

This is by fourth pair of Asolo boots. Love the gore-tex. I normally get 18 months wearing them pretty much every day for work. I would go through a pair of boots in 6 months before I changed to Asolo. A good honest pair of boots.

This is my 3rd pair of Asolo boots, I've purchased all from Sierra Trading. I thought my past 2 Moran gtx were great and my recent purchase of the Powermatic 100 make it complete!

Comfortable from day one. Did not have a problem with sweaty feet like in other boots. I have a narrow foot (A) and ordered the 12 narrow. Great fit.
One drawback. The liner in the toe area is sagging and folding. So far this has not been a problem.

    • Answer I love my Asolo 100's. Before I bought them I also compared them to the 200's. Not much difference at all is what I found. Same movement in the sole, same quality and I saved more than 100 dollars. I have used them for the last three months volunteering on the AT rebuilding trail and hiking. My feet never got wet and I never obtained one blister, not one, and they were brand new when I started. I think it is an excellent boot. Before I bought them I compared them to Lowa, Solomon and a couple of others. Most of the others said they were water proof but the reviews said they were not, also the other boots did not have the flexibility of the Asolo. I am 57, done a lot of hiking and I'm afraid I have to say this but they really are the best boot I have ever worn. Hope that helps.

    • Answer Good question. Yes, sizes are US standard shoe/boot sizes. Sierra's website has a UK and EU conversion table on their website, if applicable.
I'veve too made the mistake of ordering a US size only to discover it was a EU size.

    • Answer The only differance I can see is the soles. I have a pair of each, the sassalon, I bought two years ago and have put allot of miles on them. They are a great boot for the money. I do a bunch of hiking in the high country and they have held up very well. The soles are worn almost smooth so I tried a pair of the Powermatic this time with the rubber sole to see if they would hold up better walking in the scree fields. I like them so far but haven't give them the ultimate test yet.

    • Answer I bought these on the recommendation of a family member who has been backpacking for 30 years and has owned many pairs of Asolo boots. Both boots have merits , I like the micro pulley system for the shoe laces on the powermatic ,makes them super easy to remove and tighten. I hike the mountains of Colorado and so far these boots have proved superior to any other boot I have had.

  • Question “What's the difference between the medium and wide width?”
Asked on 12/4/2013 12:21:39 PM by Mike from Canada
    • Answer I have a D width foot and I ordered the regular. I was concerned about it too but, these boots fit really well. Unless you have an extra wide foot, order the regular.

    • Answer I do not know the exact measurement difference between the two, but I chose the wide width after trying on similiar Asolo boots at different outdoor shops. If you have this option then I suggest that. I have what is considered a wide foot and the wide fit my foot much better. The Newer Powermatic(200) is a similar cut boot. I could not find it in the wide anywhere but found another similar Asolo boot that came in wide and felt that the extra width made a big difference. It allowed me to order a 10.5 instead of an 11. They are a great feeling boot. I have been out on two hikes and they felt good. They replaced a 40 year old pair of Raichle's.
