Just received the Asolo Powermatic 100's and WOW! I got these after returning the Alico Guide Mountaineering boots which killed my feet. The Powermatics are comfortable right out of the box. I did get a wide and it's a perfect fit. THESE BOOTS RUN VERY NARROW. I wear a regular in all other boots... Read More

Comfortable from day one. Did not have a problem with sweaty feet like in other boots. I have a narrow foot (A) and ordered the 12 narrow. Great fit.
One drawback. The liner in the toe area is sagging and folding. So far this has not been a problem.

If your an Asolo Fan then this review will not blemish their reputation. First off the price is right here at Serra Trading Post. I got these in the wide size hoping they would work. I went ahead and put them on and wore them around the house for most of a day. Ouch! THESE ARE STIFF AND THE FOOT BED IS NOT GOING TO WORK. So I pulled th eAsolo foot beds and put in my prescription orthotics and then wore them with the laces very loose. After a couple of days the boots began to adjust to my feet. I have been wearing them for several weeks now. These boots are still not as wide as i would have liked them to be as they just fit without causing any discomfort from not having enough room. So I'm glad that I will be able to use these and enjoy the Asolo quality. Hopefully Asolo will build a wider boot for we big foot people. Hike-on!

So far these boots make the cut. I have been dealing with heel blisters for the past few months while wearing other boots, including the Asolo 200. This ones I think will take me to a few places in the next few years. Very comfortable, sturdy, water proof, adjustable, and good looking too!

If you get the regular width and can go down 1.5-2 sizes, then these are a great deal for a woman! I wear a 8.5 in the woman's version of this shoe with a high volume Superfeet insole. So, I bought the 7 and with this insole it is a perfect fit. Without a high volume insole, I think I'd have to go with a 6.5. They feel like the same width as the woman's version. I have been wearing them to work and hiking in them for 2 weeks with no complaints. I have very average feet except for toe splay. I like a roomy toe box and Asolo hasn't let me down for the last 7 years. I get re-imbursed for boots every year for work. I have a closet full of boots with plenty of wear left in them.

    • Answer I love my Asolo 100's. Before I bought them I also compared them to the 200's. Not much difference at all is what I found. Same movement in the sole, same quality and I saved more than 100 dollars. I have used them for the last three months volunteering on the AT rebuilding trail and hiking. My feet never got wet and I never obtained one blister, not one, and they were brand new when I started. I think it is an excellent boot. Before I bought them I compared them to Lowa, Solomon and a couple of others. Most of the others said they were water proof but the reviews said they were not, also the other boots did not have the flexibility of the Asolo. I am 57, done a lot of hiking and I'm afraid I have to say this but they really are the best boot I have ever worn. Hope that helps.

    • Answer Good question. Yes, sizes are US standard shoe/boot sizes. Sierra's website has a UK and EU conversion table on their website, if applicable.
I'veve too made the mistake of ordering a US size only to discover it was a EU size.

    • Answer The only differance I can see is the soles. I have a pair of each, the sassalon, I bought two years ago and have put allot of miles on them. They are a great boot for the money. I do a bunch of hiking in the high country and they have held up very well. The soles are worn almost smooth so I tried a pair of the Powermatic this time with the rubber sole to see if they would hold up better walking in the scree fields. I like them so far but haven't give them the ultimate test yet.

    • Answer I bought these on the recommendation of a family member who has been backpacking for 30 years and has owned many pairs of Asolo boots. Both boots have merits , I like the micro pulley system for the shoe laces on the powermatic ,makes them super easy to remove and tighten. I hike the mountains of Colorado and so far these boots have proved superior to any other boot I have had.

    • Answer I have a D width foot and I ordered the regular. I was concerned about it too but, these boots fit really well. Unless you have an extra wide foot, order the regular.

    • Answer I do not know the exact measurement difference between the two, but I chose the wide width after trying on similiar Asolo boots at different outdoor shops. If you have this option then I suggest that. I have what is considered a wide foot and the wide fit my foot much better. The Newer Powermatic(200) is a similar cut boot. I could not find it in the wide anywhere but found another similar Asolo boot that came in wide and felt that the extra width made a big difference. It allowed me to order a 10.5 instead of an 11. They are a great feeling boot. I have been out on two hikes and they felt good. They replaced a 40 year old pair of Raichle's.
