Just received the Asolo Powermatic 100's and WOW! I got these after returning the Alico Guide Mountaineering boots which killed my feet. The Powermatics are comfortable right out of the box. I did get a wide and it's a perfect fit. THESE BOOTS RUN VERY NARROW. I wear a regular in all other boots... Read More

Some of the best out there. Maybe runs a little small. I had to get a half size bigger than my normal boot size. I backpacked hundreds of miles in my last pair- they lasted for many years!

This boot was incredible. It was lighter than another pair of synthetic/suede boots I'd had and was pretty much bombproof. I have bony feet, so I had one foot that rubbed the boot in a spot, but that's unique to me. Besides that they were comfortable out of the box. The lacing pulley system is amazing and I wish all boots had it. It helps give your feet the perfect fit and amount of tension every time. They should last a very long time from the way their built and the high quality materials they're made of. For the price here, these are a steal.

If you have a more narrow foot than mine give 'em a try! I have a slightly wide foot so as my research suggested I ordered the wide version of my size. Unfortunately they aren't wide enough. Both of my big toes press against the inside of the shoe so any movement is constantly rubbing them. After about 10 minutes pain started building in the outside of my foot as well, just below the pinky toes where it is widest. Walking throughout the house is enough to foreshadow the pain to come if I were to take them out on the trail. The heel cup is an excellent fit. I couldn't get my foot to slip no matter how I went up and down the stairs. The lacing system seems handy too, if it holds up. These boots appear to be of excellent quality and come highly recommended, sadly they do not work for my feet.

Excellent up and down hill traction and foot protection. A bit heavy with little flexibility. Good comfort.

I work in cold and often muddy, wet conditions. I need a comfortable, supportive boot. After two weeks of wearing these boots I am pleased with the fit and comfort. My last pair of Asolo boots started to deteriorate after 4 years. I expect these to last at least as long.

    • Answer The only differance I can see is the soles. I have a pair of each, the sassalon, I bought two years ago and have put allot of miles on them. They are a great boot for the money. I do a bunch of hiking in the high country and they have held up very well. The soles are worn almost smooth so I tried a pair of the Powermatic this time with the rubber sole to see if they would hold up better walking in the scree fields. I like them so far but haven't give them the ultimate test yet.

    • Answer I bought these on the recommendation of a family member who has been backpacking for 30 years and has owned many pairs of Asolo boots. Both boots have merits , I like the micro pulley system for the shoe laces on the powermatic ,makes them super easy to remove and tighten. I hike the mountains of Colorado and so far these boots have proved superior to any other boot I have had.

  • Question “What's the difference between the medium and wide width?”
Asked on 12/4/2013 12:21:39 PM by Mike from Canada
    • Answer I have a D width foot and I ordered the regular. I was concerned about it too but, these boots fit really well. Unless you have an extra wide foot, order the regular.

    • Answer I do not know the exact measurement difference between the two, but I chose the wide width after trying on similiar Asolo boots at different outdoor shops. If you have this option then I suggest that. I have what is considered a wide foot and the wide fit my foot much better. The Newer Powermatic(200) is a similar cut boot. I could not find it in the wide anywhere but found another similar Asolo boot that came in wide and felt that the extra width made a big difference. It allowed me to order a 10.5 instead of an 11. They are a great feeling boot. I have been out on two hikes and they felt good. They replaced a 40 year old pair of Raichle's.
