These boots were comfortable since the minute I put them on. No break in required. They are supportive, don't feel heavy when wearing them and they look good too!

I like these boots. They have a supportive ankle and nice soles. Insole is not what I would like in a backpacking boot. Other than that they look and feel good. They are a little stiff initially but work out fairly quickly. Also not waterproof, I haven't gotten them very wet yet so I;m not sure how they will be in heavy moisture.

I buy a new pair of hiking boots each season. I work for a land management agency and do a lot of hiking and backpacking. I had another pair of asolos and they were awesome so I decided to try these. So far so good.

Comfortable, good ankle support and protection, "water resistant" = water just runs off, but not "water proof" which I mean you can go wading with them. Best use is back packing, hiking, climbing in skree

I have tried so many different boots from Merrell's to Vasque and beyond. I am an avid hiker and outdoor adventurist. In addition, I exercise large canines for a living and often walk over 12 miles a day. I met a man on a hiking trail who was wearing a pair of Asolo's and he said they were the best boots he had ever had. So I gave these a try and I am ecstatic over these boots! They fit great the moment I put them on and so I went right out for a hike and wow...great support, really heavy duty which is what I need, great traction and my ankles feel fully supported. In addition, the workmanship is excellent and they just look beautiful.

As with most boots Asolo, order half a size larger, they run a little small. I would have given these boots a five, probably, if I was able to wear them more than a day. I unfortunately ended up with a defective pair. I have, however, owned multiple pairs of Asolo boots--I'm wearing a pair right now--and I thoroughly believe that the defect was an anomaly. Not only have I owned and worn out several pairs, but I usually get them from Sierra Trading Post. First day impression: a little higher than I'm accustomed to, meaning that I would expect to have some break-in rubbing at the top of my ankle. Any boot higher than you're accustomed to will do the same thing though. Very comfortable and solid boot after a day in the field with minimal rubbing. I ordered them specifically because they were all leather, no Gore-tex, which I believe is hotter in extreme temperatures. I believe these were cooler the day I wore them as compared to my normal boots. It was over 100 degrees the day I wore them.

I took these boots on a 26-day backpacking trip in the Uinta Mountains of Utah last summer, and they performed well. I can't attest to their water resistance, because they were soaked for the entirety of this trip - we were doing 3-4 serious river crossings a day, and they never got the chance to dry. That said, they were subjected to some serious abuse over this trip, and they held up wonderfully. Snow, water, mud, constant use, and freezing temperatures every night only helped break them in more! These do have a long break-in period, at least for me. I bought them relatively shortly prior to my trip (hoping that leather boots would be better for water crossings than my other Asolos; alas, i didn't realize how high the rivers would be!), and did a few day hikes in them - but I was rudely awakened hiking with a 60lb load through harsh terrain when they started rubbing my achilles tendons/ankles. By the end of the trip, however, it was obvious that once well broken-in, these boots were great.

This is definitely a well made product, Asolo always pulls through. If I had been looking for a really sturdy hiking/mountaineering boot, I probably would have kept these. I was hoping they would still work out (even with the high density midsole) but they were too stiff for what I am currently in need of. I also have a wider foot and these were definitely not made for a wide foot, the toe box was pretty narrow. I'd say they would work well for a low/medium volume foot. But besides that, with some definite break in, these would really hold up for long trips over rough terrain. And the gusseted tongue is great! If I have the choice, I will only buy boots with this feature. When I was testing them out, I felt some slight rubbing on the outside of my heels, but again as the boot broke in to where my foot bends, that could definitely go away. I returned them, but only because I decided my current hiking range doesn't require a boot this rigid. I gave it four stars because I never actually got to take them out on the trail, but I can tell they are very well made and I am confident that they will perform well on the mountain.

I bought this boot to wear at work. During the spring and summer I work outside for most of the day, hiking across very difficult terrain. Most boots I purchase only last me one season, but these look like they'll be able to last me longer. They have superior ankle support and the almost all leather body of the shoe means that they should withstand leaking during the winter season. I recently took them out on a backpacking trip and they were excellent.
