Bought these, since I wore out my heavy duty Merrell Radius after about 6 years. The vibram sole was worn down and traction was becoming an issue. These are great for heavy pack loads like I use. Because of that, expect some break in. They are stiff out of the box. I have 25 miles or so on them, and they just now feel like they're breaking in. The toe box narrows, which is a little different for me, but doesn't cause a fit issue. I can't feel roots or rocks through the shank, even with a heavy pack. They are constructed well, and good value for the quality and strenght of the boot. I expect many years of harsh wear.

the biggest issue with a boot of this nature is that it is a specific tool. It shank is too solid for regular trail use. However, for steep bolder slopes, unstable scree, or moderate distances where you need a firm footing this product would be ideal. As Asolo boots are sold everywhere it is imperative that you try some on first because they use a narrow cast at the factory. Overall good boot just not the boot for me.

I have well over 100 miles on these boots hiking mostly in the Rockys. Most of the hikes are a week or longer with a heavy pack. My feet were never wet & always comfy. They are still comfotable, waterprooof & still look pretty good after all the miles.
