Bought these for my husband's upcoming hike on 'The Way of St. James'. He has been training daily with them and found them comfortable from the first wearing. Five stars.

I wear on a daily basis due to feet issues. I have bought these same boots for the last three years. I have these boots modified at an Orthotics specialist so I wear 7 days a week the whole year. They are a great boot and last all year.

These shoes are great. They are a little bigger in size, but not more than 1/2 size bigger. I normally wear 8.5 and the same size of these shoes is slightly bigger but still fine. The shoes are definitely lighter than average similar hiking shoes. Possible downside is that the Removable insole is very think and look not durable.

I purchased the Synchro boots because they seemed to be the most similar to my older Asolo FSN95's. They are pretty close, but lack some features such as metal rings for the laces. On the Synchro they are more of a fabric. So my doubts existed as to their longevity. In this regard, time will tell. I did give them a really good test for the gore-tex's ability to hold out water and they did perform well. Size seems to be pretty close to what my older boots were and I would say true to size. At this point, I'm pretty satisfied...but have yet to give them a long-term test with a pack on...thus reserving 5 stars for this aspect.

Super happy with these boots. Hardly needed to be broken in at all. They have a lot of support without sacrificing comfort. My favorite purchase of the spring.

  • Question “How is the traction on wet rocks?”
Asked on 7/16/2014 5:30:39 AM by Hiker Jeff from Montana
    • Answer Husband says they are fine on wet rocks. He really likes these boots-- very stable and comfortable.
Answered on 7/16/2014 5:46:57 AM by FondueMom from Stowe
    • Answer Its not too bad once you break them in. I think the Columbia Omnigrip is better, but I like my Asolo boots. The sharp heel is good on the downhills.
Answered on 7/16/2014 5:58:09 AM by Ken from Cincinnati OH
    • Answer Very good. My only complaint about these boots is there is som extra material between the tongue and the boot, so if you lace them up without pushing that material towards the laces it bunches up and puts a lot of pressure on the top of your foot. But they are comfortable as long as I do this every time I put them on.
Answered on 7/16/2014 6:39:08 AM by Woodpecker from Vermont
    • Answer These boots have excellant traction. They do well on most wet rocks, of course I've seen some wet rocks that nothing will get traction on.
Answered on 7/16/2014 6:59:36 AM by Brian from Washington
    • Answer 50/50. I've used my pair to hike five 14,000 ft peaks in Colorado and I love these boots! But they do get a little slick sometimes on certain wet rock, and they are terrible on wet wood (Crossing streams on logs is like walking on ice!)
Answered on 7/16/2014 9:28:46 AM by Zeb from Colorado
    • Answer as good as one could expect. I've made several hikes with a 40# pack in the heavy rain with no problems. of course, everyone has different expectations. if you want to sashay over slick limestone or Pennsylvania slate in a rain you will slip. I would say definitely better than a Salomon sole.
Answered on 7/16/2014 1:22:22 PM by buka ornithoptera from Jensen Beach, FL
    • Answer The traction is really good on all surfaces. However, just like any wet surface you need to be aware of any other component that might not be seen, ie : algae, moss, oil, ice. I've had these boots for years and can't say enough about them. Great boot for any condition.
Answered on 7/17/2014 6:15:20 AM by Mark from Hell Michigan
    • Answer Hello Jeff; the boots performed well on wet rocks and mud thanks to the lug design and rubber compound. I can't speak for crawling on large rocks such as boulders in the rain. But they performed well going through creeks and walking over river rock, they were still slick when I hit patches of moss. I would recommend the boot if your hiking in the rain, expect to cross creeks or need that extra step into the lake to unhook a snag. Great boot for the price my opinion you can't go wrong. I have been using them pretty much every weekend on the trail.

  • Question “What is the difference between the synchro and Neutron Asalo hiking boots.

Asked on 4/16/2014 7:52:26 PM by Shawn from Rhode Island
    • Answer Sorry,I don't know.
Answered on 4/16/2014 8:17:04 PM by Fishski from Utah Mts.
    • Answer When I was looking the big difference to me was the bottoms. The Synchro has a more aggressive tread which works for the mountains in CO which I've been using these for. The bottom has an "asobrake" as they call it, and they do have good grip in my usage. Maybe more trail orientated people might prefer the Neutron. Just my opinion.
Answered on 4/16/2014 9:15:26 PM by Zeb from Colorado
    • Answer hi.
I am using synchro boots good well.
Difference of this products are outsole.
Neutron boots is Vibram® Radiant rubber/EVA outsole provides excellent grip and shock absorption
Synchro boots is dual-density Matrix rubber outsole with Asobrake for downhill traction

Other differences, but this is the big difference.
      I hope this answer helful.

  • Question “Hello,
Could you tell me how mutch the shipping cost to Argentina?
    Thank you ”
Asked on 2/22/2014 1:04:34 PM by Gabriela Schamun from La Plata - Argentina
    • Answer At the bottom of this page, there is a reference to 'Shipping Rates'. Click on it, and you will end up on a new page; when you are there, click on 'International Rates' on the left hand side panel of that page. You will then be directed to a new page. Near the bottom of that page you will see a table showing the shipping rates for 'Other Supported Counties' (which includes Argentina). I think if you are just buying these Asolo shoes alone, your shipping charges should be USD 50. (It depends on how much you are paying for the shoes. Before you buy them, sign up for the DealFlyer and get your discount.)
