I bought 2 pairs of Asolo boots from STP. I got this pair for the flatter, less rocky hikes I go on and for some of my cooler weather hikes. These boots are very lightweight (they weigh less then some of the sneakers I own) and there is no break in time. They are comfortable right out of the box. I used them last weekend for a hike up a NH 4k. The hike was 10 miles long with a large variation in terrain (mostly dirt trails but also some walking up small rocks and climbing ledge). At that point (before the hike) I had only worn them for about 8 hours and I did not get any blister or hot spots. I bought them a 1/2 size large due to the wideness of the ball of my foot (to give my toes some room) and to make up for the thicker wool socks I normally wear on the trail. That was a good choice. My foot did not slip around at all and I didn't bang my toes on the end of the boots even once (a problem I have been having with my old boots). I have not tested them in a wet environment yet (although I did walk through some mud, crossed several streams and walked in the rain for about a 1/2 hour without feeling any wetness). The first mile or two the sole did not feel like it was grabbing real well on rocks but after a little wear in time that seemed to take care of itself. My only negative is that if I pull up real tight on the laces the tongue can pinch the top of my foot. That may be because I got them a 1/2 size larger. I am going to use some felt under the tongue to make up for that because I really like these boots a lot.
