I have and love Asolo boots so when I saw these, I thought they would be just as good, which they are...for people with medium wide feet. I'm a wide width and while I can fit in them, they just aren't as comfortable as the wide Asolo boots I own. If you have a medium width, I would definitely recommend them but for me, comfort is important so unfortunately I had to return them. Bummer too because I really loved them. They are the same quality as the boots so you can't go wrong if you fit in them.

I made the mistake of not returning these shoes. They didn't quite fit my feet (size 13) because the shoes were too narrow. The inserts were also super low quality. I hate these shoes.

Answer
No they are not waterproof. If you plan to hike a lot in the snow try a mountaineering boot. They are warm and comfortable also they take a lot longer to run into the ground. It just depends how serious you plan to get with the hiking shoe or boot you purchase.

Question
“I have read the comments that these shoes run "true to size" I am wondering though whether they are sized like an athletic (running) shoe or a dress/casual shoe? I usually wear a US13 in dress/casual shoes but am always a US14 in Asics etc.”

Answer
I would say true to size for a running shoe. I wear 14 in many different brands of athletic shoe such as Asics, Nike, Mizuno. These fit the same as well.
