I read the previous reviews before purchasing and agree that the large flap is part of the design, and even if the bag is not full it acts as a great additional layer or security. Plenty of storage compartments make it an excellent professional tote as well

This young man is very casual,although currently doing an internship in a high end high tech company. He loves it and gave his auntie godmother lots of details and high marks re this gift. His parents informed me that due to its being SO great, PLUS made in the USA, that he is not quite ready to use it due to fear of it being stolen! He takes public transportation to and from work which MAY be the reason for the fear.FYI: I would recommend this for any age, gender,and ethnicity.No doubt the time will come he will "grow" into it!Also received photos of b-day party gift open- ing,w/mega smiles, shock, and awe.Conclusion: the pictures said it all. YAY! We all loved no outsourcing and @ STP, it was almost affordable!

I know some criticized the large over-flap, but I see it as just part of the style, which makes it look simple and what I call a 'folio style'. Also it enables you to fill the bag up and not worry about the top gapping (something I hate). It's a little heavier than canvas or nylon, but not as heavy as other leather bags I've had. It's very soft and smooth in spite of being a thick leather, and sits very comfortably. I wish it came in other colors. Oh, and it's actually prettier than in the picture! The STP price makes it a true bargain (especially with coupons!) - it really is worth the retail price of about $400 (if I recall right - might even have been more).
