Aston Shearling Coat - Spanish Merino Suede (For Women)

This is a very beautiful coat! I had to send it back because the size 6 was a small 6. I usually wear 6 or 8 but because of previous reviews saying it ran large, I ordered the 6. Unfortunately it was too small. In particular, the pockets (which are great to have) add unflattering bulk in the front. If you are a 4 or a thin 6, go for the 6 (I think it's the last one left.) Perhaps the sizing is inconsistent? At any rate I hated to send it back. Truly a classy coat.

I was pleasantly surprised that the sleeve length/cuff can easily be adjusted to accommodate sizing for someone tall with long arms.

Goergeous high quality spenish merino shearling coat. I was skeptical when I ordered this - I had just ordered and returned another Aston shearling coat from STP. That one was described as spanish merino but turned out to be heavier and rougher american shearling. But this is the real deal - right out of the box, it's gorgeous. Silky soft, very warm, beautifully made and lightweight. I saw several spanish merino shearling coats on sale at Neiman Marcus for $1,500 and have been shopping around since - this is the 3rd coat i had ordered after returning 2 others. This coat actually has better quality craftsmanship than what I have seen anywhere else online or in stores - it looks like a high end $2,000+ coat. The details with the whip stitching all over the coat and belt, and the beautiful buttons, are stunning. I usually wear size 8 or 10, and the size 10 fit my 17" shoulders, 36D bust and 41" hips perfectly. I am 5'2" and can roll up the sleeves to make them fit. The Sienna color is darker than it looked onscreen - it's a darker oakish brown, but not a chestnut color nor a chocolate brown. Very versatile color. Overall a fantastic buy (got it on sale at STP). Similar shearling coats sells for at least 50% more in retail, and its simply rare to find this kind of beautiful craftsmanship details in a shearling coat. Neiman Marcus certainly did not have anything this intricate, and neither did the other fancy fur store across from it. [*]

The coat is stunning, beautiful, quality, style.....unbelievable at the price. The shearling is so soft and beautiful. The brown is a really good color and the cinnamon is much, much better than it appears in the picture, more of a rust/brown. Sadly, it is made for a person with smaller figure, with no curves. I was so encouraged when the info said "runs large, order down one size" as I wear a 6, usually order an 8 in coats for a bit more room, so I thought the 6 would fit. I ordered it in both colors as the price was incredible at STP. It is form fitting and not necessarily for someone with a curvy build. I am a moderately busty and curvy size 6 . If I were younger, this fit may appeal to me as the coat was basically fitted in the bust/rear/hips. This beautiful coat is worth every penny of the money, if you are lucky enough to have the right figure for it. Also, I thought from the picture that the coat was knee length and it was actually mid calf on me (5'3"), which was fine with me. I am so disappointed to have to return these two coats. If it fits, you will be ecstatic with this gorgeous coat.

This coat is perfect, so soft, lightweight yet warm, nice looking.

After reading many of the comments on this and other shearlings, it became apparent there are a lot of buyers who haven't taken the time to learn about shearling. If you're spending this much on a coat, it's probably a good idea to be informed about what you're buying. Once you understand the different 'types' of Spanish shearling (thinkness of hide, density of fur) you'll understand what a great deal this is (I bought at [$].) It's in the details; the coat has finished button holes, the stitching and panel construction is finished very nicely, there's a hood and hand pockets sewn on to the seems. Not all shearlings come with pockets because they look bulky. I'm petite, usually wear a regular 2-4 and I bought the dark brown in 6 - it fits beautifully. I would call it a "slim fit". Also keep in mind these will give a little with wear - it's a skin, and like leather, will stretch a little. This coat is really gorgeous and a good deal for the money.

This coat is warm. I won't have to wear a lot of layers in the winter with this one. And I love the hood!! Only complaint is that it isn't long enough (more like a 3/4 length, not full length coat).

This is a very beautiful coat. Something you see at ski resorts. After the second try, the fit is great. I originally purchased a size 4 based on other reviews. I am a standard size 6. About the first coat, the shearling was not as thick or as luxurious and the coat did not have a belt. The second size 6 is amazing!

Haven't yet had a chance to wear this outdoors, in cold weather, as I purchased it in early spring. However, it feels great on and seems as if it would be perfectly warm for our climate, which is often well below freezing. Beyond the practical, it is simply beautiful. The feel is not bulky like some fleece coats, but more like a heavy knit sweater coat. I especially like the hood feature, which when down lays like a nicely tailored broad collar. I thought there was a belt in the photo on the company web site. But there is no belt after all. No matter. It wears perfectly as is. I am a full bodied, size 14, and this not only fits really well, it looks great on! At first I bought a slightly less expensive Aston coat, trying hard to stay within my means. But it wasn't the coat I really wanted so I gave in, returned it, and bought this one. Wow. I am so glad I did. And I look forward to wearing it with enjoyment and appreciation for decades to come.
