I am excited to use these snowshoes since we have had such a mild (read lack of snow) winter. I rented similar ones from the local outdoor store..when there was snow. Hopefully next season I can test these out.

I bought these snowshoes when my 24-year-old Atlas shoes finally gave way this winter. My usual course is brutal on equipment, having cost me two poles over time. I thread my way through half a mile of uncut woods to a hilly dirt road frequented by snowmobilers and either follow their trail or cross it and forge through the woods again. We had deep snowpack this winter with more icing than usual, making the course a bigger challenge than usual. This probably contributed to the disintegration of my old bindings. My husband's shoes (which were the exact same model), also self-destructed this year. I snapped up these shoes on sale and had them sent by 2 day air. the arrived on time and in perfect shape. On my first outing, I found my new Elektra shoes handled very nicely (once I got used to the feel of a couple more inches on the back). The bindings go on much more easily than my old shoes and stay tight. I did have to watch a video on You Tube to figure them out. Snowshoeing is likely over now but I am happy that I found a good solution and, if my old shoes are any evidence, I should be all set for years to come.

Comfortable and work well. I don't love the front strapping....it is one long piece - which is good because there is no dangling, but it makes it is not as easy as I would like to get them on. Since i'm wearing them with clunky boots, it takes some manipulating, which you don't want to be doing out in the cold. Once they are on, I am very happy with them.

Ordered these snowshoes at the end of the Michigan winter season. I was only able to use them twice on a very compacted snow. So far, I am very happy with these snowshoes. They are very lightweight, easy to fasten and provided great grip on icy-snow conditions. On flat terrain, I had no difficulty maneuvering as a first-time user. Since these are my first pair of snowshoes, I do not know how they compare to other similar products.

I've used these a few times snowshoeing the trails around the Snoqualmie Pass area. Excellent strapping system holds the entire time. Very easy to get in and out of. I've gone up and down small hills with no sliding. At 40% off these were an incredible value.

About Atlas

The story behind Atlas snowshoes began with an engineering thesis project at Stanford University more than 25 years ago. At the time, friends Perry Klebahn and Jim Klingbeil had a totally radical idea. The result was the first-ever snowshoes with spring-loaded suspension, a cutting-edge development that offered easier articulation on technical terrain. The concept was a big step forward in the advancement of snowshoeing technology and allowed Klebahn and Klingbeil to launch their own company. In the years since, Atlas snowshoes have become even more advanced with enhanced features and new materials, including ultralight decking and innovative V-shape frames for less drag. Today, Atlas snowshoes hold 19 different patents and represent the absolute best in winter adventure gear.
