Verified Buyer Reviewed by KateNorthWoods from Wisconsin on Friday, December 28, 2012Love this snowshoe! I have three pairs and these have the best bindings I've ever used in 0 degree weather. They're also nice and light! Perfect for flying over the snow.

Looking forward to snow to try them out and get lots of use.
Answer Snowshoe are sized according to weight capacity. The 23" snowshoe is for some one who weighs 80 lb. to 160 lb. The 27 " is for someone who weighs 120 lb. to 200 lb. Either of these would work for you, the 23" would be slightly lighter and a bit easier to maneuver.
Answer It is called a heel lift. It is used when faced with a long ascent, flip up the bar, and your foot is supported in a more natural, flat position while the snowshoe continues to grip the steeply angled incline. The lifts reduce Achilles tendon and calf strain and fatigue.
