-Atlas Snowshoes began in 1990 when founder Perry Klebahn, who was recovering from a motorcycle injury, wanted better snowshoes for winter exercise. Klebahn created a revolutionary new snowshoe as the thesis project for his graduate engineering degree at Stanford. Perry’s Atlas snowshoe was awarded the first new snowshoe patent granted in over 40 years. New Atlas snowshoe innovations soon followed: dual crampon designs and Spring-Loaded Suspension became key technologies of Atlas snowshoes. Within a few years, Atlas snowshoes ... I have used a variety of snowshoes over 30 plus years of traveling in the BWCA and Quetico. There is nothing to the idea that big shoes mean better floatation. The shorter and lighter the better. These shows do very well in deep soft snow and excelled crossing those patches of ice encountered on rivers and lakes. Turning and bushwacking are a lot easier in these short light and aggressively cramponed shoes.

Light, great looking snowshoes. Bindings are very easy to use. Bought them at the end of the season at a great price, but have not had the chance to test them out yet,

Excellent performance - even in wet snow, the snow did not pack onto bottom of bindings. Very comfortable and easy to hike. My old snowshoes would accumulate snow balls under the ball of the foot in wet snow, making it impossible to walk without stopping to remove the accumulation every few minutes.
