Atomic BOA XCruise SNS Nordic Boots (For Men and Women)

At this point, it seems like an excellent product at a great price. Unfortunately, I can't give an on-snow review. Does run slightly small.

I have been using these boots on groomed trails and for some open fields. I like them but they are not quite what I thought. The lacing system is good- it's a pretty fabulous dial-in fitting system. I expected that it would get me a much closer connection to the ski by minimizing the play of movement in the boot. The trouble with this is that if I tighten the cords enough to do this, then my feet swell. So it seems I have to aim for a looser fit than I originally wanted. Who knows? Good old-fashioned laces might be better. Even so, the boots are really good with climbing, and I've got great control on the downhill. So in the end they are useful. They just aren't quite what I expected.

Would have loved to try these boots but the internal lace system is defective in one of the boots. The lacing is a closed loop wire that runs through the tongue and around the heel. The wire on one boot is not looped through the left side of the tongue. This not only causes improper tightening but also the tongue to pucker out on the right side. I am returning them.

I only ski for fun, not competition, and with these boots I feel confident in different conditions (groomed, breaking trail, ice, etc). Getting the boots on and off is easy, and having a dial to tighten them instead of having to tie laces is very convenient. I wish it tightened the whole foot - it seems that my ankle area gets snug and not as much by my toes and arch. I have wide feet, but have actually found that these are almost too wide for me. However, this hasn't caused blistering, and it feels good to be able to wiggle my toes. I've found that the top part of the boots above my ankles needs breaking in, but otherwise the boots were comfortable right out of the box. I'm looking forward to using these boots for longer ski trips, and wouldn't hesitate to wear them for multiple-day adventures.
