Auclair Sheepskin Mittens (For Women)

I'm still wearing these mittens after 4 years-- purchased & reviewed in Dec. 2007. I drive to part-time job in cold winter weather-- IDEAL. BLACK is great color as I wear with ivory down jacket & charcoal wool coat throughout the long winters.

For keeping my hands warms these mittens rock.

Product is constructed of very lightweight scraps of sheepskin. The stitching on the outside is attractively done, but the interior has numerous rough patches, hanging strings, and is shedding quite a bit of fleece after a couple of wears. But these mittens are cute, and the price/quality ratio is acceptable. Don't expect them to be warm choppers, though -- these are just right for our mild Philly winters.

I used this product as driving mittens. While driving I needed to pull over and take the ice off my windshield wipers, it was a snowy slushy day about 32F, and the gloves became soaked through and started falling about at the seams, and it wasn't even that cold outside but my fingers started freezing. Doesn't stand up to a Wisconsin winter.

Nice gloves; but the dye from the lining got all over my hands turning them black. Returning them.

These are small but I have small hands so the fit was perfect. Unfortunately the fur inside is very thin and these are not at all warm. Okay mittens as long as you are not expecting them to be super warm like most sheepskin.

I read all the reviews before making a purchase and had some reservations, especially when I read "cheap" and "not warm" and there were some sizing issues. But I'm glad those reviews didn't steer me away. I have small hands, so I went up one size as suggested and ordered the medium. I am pleased with my purchase, so far. The mittens are cute, fit well, and there is enough lambswool lining for my liking (seems about the same amount as in the bottom of my high-priced boots by a well-known maker). I live in the Northeast and walk my dog often -- they're perfect for this activity. I wouldn't use these nonwaterproof mittens for shoveling snow -- I'll use waterproof ski gloves for that. In these mittens, my hands have been toasty warm and cozy even on the coldest days, and I like the fact that the gloves are thin enough so they bend with my hand. I've tried on expensive lambswool-lined mittens before that had a thick, stiff leather upper and an ultra-ultra plush lining, but I couldn't move my hands. And I didn't buy them because I was concerned that I'd be taking them off a lot and maybe losing them. It didn't seem practical, and now I'm not sure how much lambswool is really needed to keep hands warm anyway -- seems as though these mittens with a thinner lining do the job well. And they're priced right and are perfect for what I need them for.

These mittens are great! Remember to order one size up because these are leather and they won't stretch. Very lightweight for sheepskin, but they really keep your hands warm. Well made, too.
