    Take the advice of others...runs very small. I did and bought the large, thinking it would fit a male with a medium-sized hand. He got it on his hand, fingers started turning purple (not joking). He couldn't get it off, so I had to pull it off. I don't even think the XL would have been comfortable. He really liked them and would have kept it...had it fit.

    As a amateur wildlife photographer, cool dawns can be a problem. Full coverage gloves did not let you feel the controls of a camera. These work great. I did remove 'half' of the velcro. Spooked the critters when you flipped the top back.

    I used these gloves last weekend for the first time and was happy with them. They worked well for fly fishing, because they fit snug and still allow use of fingers. Also came in handy back at camp afterwards. Warm and dry fairly fast.

    I bought these gloves to go fishing in the cold weather. The flip top mittens allow you to use your fingers when needed. The fleece dries fast and keeps most of your hand warm. There is a clasp at the wrist so that you could hook both gloves together. The elastic on the wrist is nice and tight so that they gloves don't slip off easily. My only complaint is that there is no cover for the thumbs so my thumbs were wet and freezing cold.

    I'm not a fisherman, but I'm outside quite a bit for work in the winter. I suppose if you were wearing these only to hold a fishing rod, tucking your thumb under the finger flap might be okay.....but unfortunately I have to do lots of different things. Overall great gloves.
