My 4 lb Chihuahua will have to grow into it but he will have to put on a few pounds for the fit to be correct. A bit too snug for my 10 lbs Chihuahua. Perfect for 6-7 pounders. That should help you size it right for your canine family member. "Lil'Rascal" will look TOO COOL in this coat once he can wear it without peeing on it! (When it fits snugger around his belly) ;-)

I ORDERED THIS COAT FOR "SAMSON" MY 4LBS CHIHUAHUA WHO WAS BORN IN HAWAII AND LIVED THE FIRST YEAR OF HIS LIFE THERE. WE ARE TRAVELING RNS AND ARE CURRENTLY ON ASSIGNMENT IN SPOKANE, WA WERE IT IS QUITE COLD, BELOW ZERO AND SNOWING MOST OF THE TIME SINCE WE ARRIVED. SAMSON STAYS WARM IN HIS NEW JACKET AND DOESN'T MIND WEARING IT. IT IS PRETTY EASY TO PUT ON; SLIP OVER HEAD AND BRING BOTTOM UP THROUGH LEGS TO VELCRO ON THE SIDES. THIS HAS BEEN A VERY ESSENTIAL ITEM FOR HIM AND FITS PRETTY WELL. IT COULD BE A BIT TIGHTER AROUND CHEST, HE TENDS TO PEE ON IT IF IT ISN'T SNUG. I ALSO HAVE ROOM TO PUT A TIGHT SWEATER UNDER. KEEP IN MIND THAT HE IS FULL GROWN AND ONLY FOUR POUNDS. HE IS LOOKING FORWARD TO RETURNING TO HAWAII. WINTER IS TOO COLD IN SPOKANE FOR A 4LBS CHIHUAHUA. the coat is a great price and is really awesome quality... my puppy will grow into it but right now she only wants to eat it. i have a mini schnuazer going to be 10 - 15 pounds looks like it might be just a little to small...we got the size 10. were going to buy the next size up too just to make sure she fits... its to cute to have her grow out of it esp. for the price

I bought this off season for a great price. I can't comment on its usage or warmth. For size reference, the x/s size 8 fits a little too large for my 4 1/2 pound Yorkie. He's fine boned. (But it is his anyways.) It does fit my 9 pound Yorkie, but it's a little snug going over his head. So I'd say a size 8 fits 6 to 8 pound dogs best. I absolutely love the color and bomber style. It is very well made and seems like it will be perfect for winter. I have priced other leather dog jackets, this is the best deal I could find. I hope the info helped.

The quality of the coat is amazing. I just wish there were other colors. It is so great to have the D-ring, less work because I don't have to also put on a harness.

When my yorkie was nearly shivering to death in low 20's and worse temperatures, I knew he needed this jacket. The bomber styling makes him look like a real WWII wingman!

This coat is easy to put on, and looks great. My long haired dachshund generally doesn't tolerate clothing of any kind, but this coat doesn't seem to bother him at all. A truly outstanding product.

The problem that I had with this coat was figuring out the size I needed. I had to go to the manufacturer's website to figure out what size to order since STP didn't have the sizing chart. Well, it was very misleading because it tells you to order according to length of dog from base of neck to tail. My toy poodle measures 12", so that's what I ordered. The coat did measure 12", the collar was an additional 3.5", and the neck opening was 14-15". It would have fit a Parsons terrier or a Westie, something in the 15-20+ pound range, not 5 pounds. I am hoping that the 8 will be a better fit. Otherwise, it is a very nice coat with a soft leather exterior. I love the D-ring because I can attach a leash to the coat, otherwise I have to fold the coat up to attach a leash to her harness.

This coat is great, but not as thick I expected, however, it certainly does keep my pomapoo happy. The "D" ring on the back is so handy for quickly attaching the leash, which is perfect for my super fuzzy pomapoo's neck (so hard to clip leash on thru all that fur!) and it's quite sturdy.[...]My 9 lb pup will fit in a 12 perfectly.
