Over the years I have purchased a total of six or seven of these single pelts. They are nearly indestructible. Visitors to our home are always drawn to the warmth, texture and luxury of this product. So much so that I have begun giving them as gifts. Two of the recipients use them in their beds to k...

Let me start by saying that I love Sierra Trading Post and the deals they offer. Hence this is said with no judgment against Sierra Trading Post, they may not be aware of this fact that I am about to speak of.
Being a lover of truthfulness, I research almost everything I can. And you don't have to take my word on this; you can look it up yourself.
Fur that comes out of China is from tortured animals. a common way of slaughtering the animals for their skin is to skin them alive. And this is a fact, 51 percent of all skin that comes into America is from China and from these types of producers. They will mislabel the fur as "sheep skin", but in truth it is skinned dogs or cats! Since this is labeled 'Made in China', there is no doubt the animals that were USED to create this rug were horrifically killed!
This is a horrific practice! Do the research yourself! I love cozy comfortable products too, but not at the expense of another's suffering.

i have bought several of these pelts. when our kids were little my husbands lined their car seats with these pelts. using an awl and heavy thread he has made child car seat covers and seat covers for our two cars. they are warm in winter and cool in summer. i have purchased these pelts and used them as covers over leather furniture, so much less slippery and so much more comfortable. i have used them as floor covers in front of furniture for a neat look. they are well made and plenty furry!

I absolutely love the quality and look of this sheepskin. I bought them as throw rugs for next to my bed, so that I can curl my feet into them getting in and out of bed. Love everything about them. Thank you for great quality and a great price!

Just got a second one of these..Love it on the back of my leather couch and another on a leather armchair. With this long cold winter it adds a cozy vibe and looks great .Excelllent quality and price. Recommend!!
My backing measures 37 1/2 inches in length for the backing. The longwook sticks out another 2 inches on each end with a total measurement of 41 1/2 inches. If the long wool is brushed up or gets matted of course it would be shorter. Hope this helps, it really is a nice pelt and I found out that the company Auskin only gets pelts from sheep that have been slaughtered for meat. They do not kill just for the pelts. In light of that I ordered 2 of the shorter ( and cheaper ) pelts for my dogs but have not received them yet.

I would assume that it is an approximate (or minimum) measurement of the skin itself (the white backing, as you say). You sent me scrambling for my tape measure. I measured two of mine, as the other two are being set on. The skin side of one was 39" and the other was 38,75".

Thanks folks. I have one that is almost 40" long on pelt side and just got another locally to Match but it's only 36". Full 4" shorter ! I may just order one through here and see what I end up with!

38.5" is the size of the white backing. The fur sticks out (or up) another 1.5" all around.

I just measured the backing and it was 37 inches, so I would assume the 38.5 inches is the fur "hanging" over the backing.l

Sorry to take a while to answer. I had just washed the two rugs I had, and it took four days for them to dry completely on the line. After their first washing, the leather side was 32 x 24. After I brushed out the wool, the wool side measured 36 x 26. I didn't measure them prior to washing, but I had always figured the size of the rug was approximate because each sheep that contributed the pelt naturally varied in size.
